[Crusades AAR] BLOOD, DEATH AND GLORY, THE HOLY LANDS

The year is 1119, after the first sucessful crusade in 1099, Jerusalem was now in christian hands. However all is not well. More and more groups of pilgrims are being slaughtered in their hundreds as they make their way to Jerusalem through the holy land from the coastline of Jaffa. Muslim forces are growing and rearming, ready to rid their lands of the christian invaders. Groups of Bandits have joined together and united once more attacking larger groups of Pligrims and travelers leaving none alive.

Christian veterans of the First Crusade are aware of the fastly growing threat to the nearly created kingdom of Jerusalem and are ready to die protecting the holy lands and the christians who have lived there for years. As more and more muslims march upon the once islamic lands, French knight Hugues de Payens and his relative Godfrey de Saint-Omer set up the monastic order for the protection of these pilgrims. The Knights Templars were ready to die in the name of God and Christiandom

Captain Henry Maceye wiped his eyes, The endless desert and the relentless sun beat down upon the group of Zweihanders, he rested his large two handed sword down and took a drink of water while his men also stopped for a rest. They had been marching for a good half of the day, searching for a group of pilgrims close by after hearing of a large bandit group in the area. It was every Templars duty to protect all Christians from danger. The captain picked up his sword and returned to his men.
"Right, its time to find these pilgrims and get them safely to Jerusalem before any bloody arabs decide to turn up, forward!" The Zweihanders marched onward ignoring the heat and the sand.

"Captain!" one of the templars cried out from one of the sand dunes above the marching unit "We're to late, they're all dead!" Maceye ran towards the templar up the side of the dune. As he reached the top the captain saw the carnage below. The sight before him was filled with dead and mutalated bodies of men women and children. The sand had been stained red with blood.
"Men get up here and see what these muslims do!" The Templars climbed the sides of the dune and stared out across at the piles of pilgrims. "Sir theres still some of the dogs who did this looting our christian brothers" pointing towards a group of Muslim spearmen.
"Right lads! lets send these heathen dogs back to the pits of hell!" Shouted Captain Maceye "take whatever you want from their cold dead bodies!" The templars cheared and charged upon the supprised spearmen killing many on the impact. Maceye's sword struck the neck of one of the arabs slicing off the head. The spearmen tried to hold of the Zweihanders but we're unable to block the wild swings of the two handed swords cutting many down.
After heavy losses the arab spearmen fled the might of the Templars. Captain Maceye inspected his men, They were worn out and tried, covered in theirs and the enemies blood. 14 had fallen to the heathen blades but compaired to the losses inflicted on the arabs it was a solid victory, "Right men lets get back home, report our findings and drink to dead brothers!" The templars cheared and started the long road home.

The bells woke the startled Templars garrisoned in the fort from their slumber. Captain Maceye rushed out of his tent wielding his two handed sword investigating the situation. " Captain, arab force approaching!" shouted the watchmen ringing the bell. Maceye was quick to react, organizing his fellow Templars, arming the new recuits. One of the Zweihanders approached the captain, "Sir the arabs outnumber us and most of our men and raw recuits!"
"Well brother Templar more glory for us then! get your sword and line up!"
While the Templars were prepairing for the fight ahead the Muslim force was fast approaching the Fort.


The new recuits of the Knights Templar were lined up facing the Templar Zweihanders while Captain Maceye addressed the troops with a speach to inspire even the most unsure of heart. "Fellew brothers of the order, this is our day, our day to be remebered! The power of the lord will aid us while we beat back the vile muslic dogs! We shall have victory! This fort will never fall while the lords servants take refuge within its walls! We shall have victory!!

"Captain! the arabs, there here!"cried the watchmen at the gate
"Battle stations men! Its time to send the heathen back to hell!"
The islamic force approached the fort and began to ram down the gates. The Templars could not hold and soon the gates were down and the arabs stormed in.

Pretty nice AAR, although I don't think the Muslims would actually be the ones murdering and raping and looting....

I understand what you mean as the crusaders were well known to be ruthless and cruel so I will try to incorporate that more in future updates, thanks for your comment

As more and more arabs stormed through the gates the Kights Templar tried to hold them back. The fighting was fierce, men fell on bothh sides. The Arab general and his cavalry hacked through the Templars lines. Although they were fearless the New recuits could not compare to the much higher skilled Arabian forces. Slowly yard for yard the Templars were being pushed back as the Muslims advanced over the dead bodies of both sides.

Both sides were slaughtering the other, the fort was covered with the bodies of those brave men who had fallen. The Templars had lost just under half their forces but still fought on. However the outnumbering muslim army was fighting its way to the centre of the camp hacking down any who stood in their way. Many young lads who had wished for glory in the Templars only found the death and horror as they were pushed back. But still the Templars held on, with the hopes of victory ahead, which looked unlikely as more and more men fell to the blades of Arab army.

Maceye saw his men wavering and being pushed back. "Soldiers of the Lord! hold these heathens back!" The captain screamed over the dreaded sound of the merciless killing. As the Arab General cut down a Templar squire, he caught sightings of Maceye and charged towards him. The zweihanders seeing their men broken also charged towards the enemy and the approaching general. As they clashed the The muslim leader struck several zweihanders down until Maceye's sergeant Friedrich killed the generals horse with a swing from his sword. The muslim leader fell to the floor and was decapitated by another zweihander.

The zweihanders charged the rest of the Arab force now shocked to have seen their beloved leader cut down. The higher trained templars pushed back the arab force killing many on their two handed swords, as victory was slipping away from them the muslims soon lost hope and fled in terror of the Zweihander's blades, The fort was saved for the moment.

"Captain we did it, we won!" cried one of the worn out Zweihanders.
"Aye, we did, but at such cost this was not a glorious victory." The captain turned round to see the carnage left.

"We've lost too many a good man today" Maceye said sadly. Friedrich approach the Captain, " Sir, we have 28 Zweihanders and 17 new recuits left"
"Thank you Sergeant, but that was no bandit attack, that was an arab van guard, looks like we've got an invasion on our hands." replied Maceye " Get me a horse I must warn the Grandmaster!"

While Maceye traveled to the Templar castle of Tortosa with a band of crusader Knights to warn the knight templars grandmaster of the approaching muslim force to the holy lands. Sergeant Friedrich withdrew from the fort and headed to the nearby allied town Janus to retrain and restock the remaining templar force. The heat was merciless as food supplies soon ran out and the worn out. The christian soldiers forced them selves to carry on and after a hard days march the town came into sight.


As the men rested, the allied tribesmen approached Friedrich. The village leader explained that his hunters had spotted a large enemy Scouting party coming in this directions. The friendly tribesmen begged the Templar to help defend their village and ensure the surival of their tribe. The sergeant was overcome by the hospitality and accepted their plea, understanding he had placed his men in more danger.

As the large scouting force came into view the Templars lined up, ready for the battle. They were joined with men from the allied tribe who were willing to die for their people along side the Christian soldiers.


As the arabs stormed into the village, the Templar squires and the allied muslims met them in the narrow streets. The slaughter began as more and more of the scouting group joined the fray and began to advance towards the village centre.
The arab scouting party also tried to flank the two allias with the General leading the assualt. The remaing Templar squires who were not in combat at that time charged the flanking forces graining time for the defenders.

The battle was brutal, each side were merciless and hated the other. The defenders were brave and held on but were being pushed back while the arab general and cut through the attacking squires and advanced towards the centre. Many a man fell to the maces of the other squires locked in combat on the village's main road but were overcome by the vastly overpowering numbers.
The outlook looked grim for the village. The main arab force had fought its way to the centre cutting aside the brave but not trained village inhabitats while the Zweihanders tried to halt the flanking force. One of the most famous regiment in Templar history finally meet its match on the axes of the arab generals bodyguard. Friedrich managed to cut down the enemy general but was hacked apart by the well trained body guard and their famous heavy axes.

As the templars were slaughtered the village inhabitats were overcome and meet an end like their allias linging the village centre with their bodies. The village leader was killed by the arab spearmen marking the end of any hopes of victory for the defenders.

Only two templar Zweihanders were able to flee from the village while it burnt, charsed by the arab force the two brothers in arms fled into the desert leaving the village in the enemy muslim's control.

You never know, theres still the captain and the two who escaped, they could always make a comeback to avenge their brothers who went down fighting!
