Graphical glitch with a 7600gt

Having recently installed a 7600gt graphic card in my computer I proceeded to play a m2tw game with high graphical settings. The game went smoothly except for the strange anomaly in the battle game where blocks of horizontal line flicker randomly on the map. Everything else is fine and I can play the game despite the problem. The campaign map does not have this glitch.

I've tried changing the display settings to a lower setting but the problem still exists. Also tried using different nvidia drivers.

Not sure if it's hardware or software based - Any one had an experience like this before? Any help is appreciated.

My com specs:
AMD Athlon x2 4000+ dual core
1 gb ddr2 ram
7600gt 256mb
500W PSU

Well, firstly, welcome to TWC, you are our 30,000th member!

Now, on to some advice. Have you in anyway OCed your graphics card? If so, I think you may have over overclocked it, try taking it down a notch.

If not, then try some other drivers (if you have not already tried them all, that is). Maybe its overheating?

Thank you - been lurking for a long while now, never got to register and post until now.

I don't think the video card is OCed (at least not intentionally-will check some settings). In regards to overheating - that's sounds like a possibility, I'll see if I can monitor the temp while playing, although the problem occurred the first time I played a game (M2TW being the first game played after the upgrade).
A Zalman cooler was installed on the card too btw.

The problem seems to occur in certain games, while others did not have this problem leading me to believe that it could be game or setting specific.
