It's only recieving large ammounts of coverage because the family is running a massive search campaign. Im pretty sure she's dead, probably died the night she went missing, people don't kidnap people for 100+ days wthout making ransom demands and she is far to high profile to keep with you if you were takign her for any other reason.

to be honest i think its awful she gets so much attention, children go missing all the time and their are british children who have gone missing since madeline went missing. have they had their faces up in football matches? no! its stupid their are children who do have a chance of being found who have only been missing for a little while but they are never going to be found because people still focas on madeline, if it was me i would ban the appeals for her and focas on new kids who have a chance of being saved.

I agree with Lozz. People should focus more on recent kidnappings than these older cases. There children being kidnapped all the time. What makes this one so special?

Nope. That's the media. Biased as always. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, a white man seen getting food from an abandon store is described as trying to feed his family. If it was a Black man, it'll look like as if he's looting.

i'm pretty heartless about the whole thing. i hope they find her but i know they wont (alive) and also i dont think her parents were very iresponsible. they took her to a foreign country but then went of for a private meal...oh and the whole european tour thing hasnt help my opinion of them (especially after they said they wouldnt return to england because they wanted to be near by if anything happened but then they go to the ****ing vatican amongst other places)

I also believe that the parents are involved or at least responsible. Who leaves a four year old babysitting younger children in a hotel room in a foreign land to boot? They should be held responsible and I do not understand why the media does not focus on their total incompetence as parents of means.

yeah i dont have kids myself as im too young but my mum is incredibly scathing of the parents

There is also the possibilty the parents had something to do with it, however unlikely they did leave their children alone and i have seen a map of the grounds pointing to were they were sleeping and were the parents were eating and no way on this earth would many parents stray that far from their kids no matter how old they were.

A woman is serving 8 years because her child went missing and she was the prime suspect and found guilty despite the child never being found, how cruel is that. First your child is kidnapped then you get 8 years in a foriegn jail.

Ditto. My Mum really dislikes a few "facts" we have been told so far (she is an ex lawyer too if that means anything). She was/is disgusted that they could have left not just a near on 4 year old alone in a hotel room but twins of (IIRC) 18 months!!! Now that is something that NO ONE should ever do. Even for my 12 year old sister I would never leave her on her own in foreign territory. It's just not done.

Two other things she has picked up on is that the mother has not been seen crying yet. To me this means nothing but if you have ever seen those police media operations where a statement is read out, the parents are always sat quietly sobbing. This has not been seen yet. The other thing is how long they have spent out there in Portugal. My Mum says that if the same thing happened to her then she couldn't stay in that country for any longer than she had to. I can see why they would stay but having the young twins that they have wouldn't they want to return home asap?

We are all just armchair generals in this case (as we are on all/most media articles) but I have to say that something dodgy appears to have happened here. IIRC they are both doctors too and that they were sedating their kids. Sedation is a common practice for kids that have nightmares etc but who knows, perhaps an accident of overdose occurred or a reaction to the sedative? If something did happen and they were found for manslaughter it would mean the end to their carriers. It has been known for the "Big Lie" strategy to be used in such cases whereby you profess your innocence so much that it becomes believable. Whether a parent could cover up the death of their child is a question that I have no answers to.
