    Student Add-on V1.4 for DLV 4.1!


    What does it do?

    This add-on aims at adding even more role-playing to DLV:
    Now your freshly matured family members have a "student" trait. Instead of using them as child generals, send them off to a city in their first turn to enjoy a civilian education, preparing for a career as city governor. Or send them to a castle to have them choose a military education, preparing for a career as army general.
    Send them out in the wild, and they will become... duh, wild.

    Once chosen their education, your students have to stay in the settlement until the age of 21, to attend classes. Failing in this will lead to BAD traits...
    Be careful when spreading your family members around the world. Make sure they are close enough to the settlement of your choice when their sons come of age!

    Potential new family members proposed for adoption or marriage will most of the time already have had a training and have an appropriate career. Some very few will just be bums, though. Watch out!

    The already mature family members at the start of the game can choose a governing career by staying in any settlement -to avoid wrong starting careers because of settlement-distances, or a military career by staying outside at the end of the first turn, just like in standard DLV.
    They will also acquire the fitting former education, so nobody gets left behind!


    DOWNLOAD


    Install

    - Extract the .rar file to your desktop
    - simply copy and paste the folder "Data" to the folder "DLV_ext" found in your default M2TW folder (where you directed the M2TW-install)
    - Confirm "Yes to all" when asked to overwrite
    - Play


    Requirements:
    Deus Lo Vult V4.1 (Bugfixer_01)
    --This is save game compatible, however current and past students may experience messed up traits

    Version 1.4
    Field training fully functional
    Field training shorted to 5 years (versus 10)

    Requirements:
    -Student must graduate with a military degree
    -After the student graduates he has 5 years in which he can receive field training
    --To obtain field training the student must end the turn in the wilderness and must be standing next to the general he wishes to learn from. The "teacher" can be in a settlement in which case the student must end turn standing next to the settlement but still outside.
    -- They cannot be in the same army for this to work
    -- You can learn Command, Loyalty, Chivalry, Dread, and Piety from more experienced generals and governors
    -- You can only learn so much without trial by combat (a la you're limited to how many increases you can obtain during field training)
    -- The "teacher" must have at least 4 of the given attribute, with increased chances to learn if the teacher has 6 or 8 of the given attribute

    Fixed CTD on start up
    --This is a beta version as it has not received much testing, though is currently under going some by myself - Posted to receive help in the testing process

    Version 1.3
    Toned down benefits for buildings as some students were gaining a lot of traits

    Added field training for military students. Those family members who graduate from military school will have the next 10 years for in the field training where they can learn from an experienced general.

    A Military Grad can gain Loyalty, Piety, Command, Chivalry, or Dread from another general by learning from him.

    Technical side:
    Military Graduates have 10 years (20 turns) of which they can learn from another General. The General in question has to have least 4 marks of the given trait. The Teacher (Experienced General) and Student (Military Graduate) have to be in the same army and you have to end turn in the wilderness to have a chance to learn anything.

    Version 1.12:
    Fixed an error with Bugfixer 01 causing student traits not to show up or work properly

    Version 1.11:
    Fixed a some issues with Building triggers

    Version 1.1:
    Added triggers for various buildings
    -Depending on the buildings in the settlement, a student has an increased chance of good traits while studying.
    --For example, if there is a market in the city there is an increased chance for GoodTrader and GoodTaxman traits (as well as others) for both cities and castles

    Version 1.01:
    Fixed issue with students not graduating
    Fixed an issue when a student spends the first turn outside a settlement
    Students will have to make up for lost time
    -If a student skips three terms, they will not graduate until they are 22.5 (Winter of 22nd year)

    Version 1.0:
    Incorporated into DLV by Repman

    Beta:
    Developed by Belgae, adds student trait to family members


    Use of the addon in your own mod

    Off course you can use this add-on freely in your own mod-developments, with proper credits to StrikeQ, Belgae and Deus Lo Vult!.

    I've been playing the last couple hours. First time in a long time. Think I need to edit the building triggers some more. Although overall my guys have been getting ~1-2 traits max per 5 years of studying. Which I think is a good medium. Although my only military student got 4 traits ^^

    So its not being in a battle (next to a commanding general) where the student gains various traits, its simply being on campaign, correct?

    Correct, simply being on a campaign allows the student to learn. There are vannilla triggers for traits gained through battles, unsure if it affects all the family members in the battle or only the "leading general". Though I'm still thinking of adjusting those traits and possibly adding more.

    So the teacher general has to have, say, 4 points of chivalry before the graduate can get any +chivalry traits?

    Correct, the graduate can still gain chivalry through the usual means. But for the "Teacher" to pass on his knowledge he must have at least 4 in the given attribute (Command, Loyalty, Piety, Dread, Chivalry).

    It's so once generals get old and aren't as effective they can pass on/train the new generals instead of all that going to waste.

    And if they have more than 4 (6, and 8) there is another increase in chance to learn it.

    Well I installed but now I get a CTD just as the intro screen comes up after I start DLV

    Same here, replaced with backups and loads fine. Hope you made backups...If not just reinstall DLV and bugfixer1. Current campaign will load as normal.

    Alright thanks for the reports, I just uploaded the file before heading to work. Finished with school now so will have a fix posted shortly.

    Alright well, I've been testing this for about the past 4 hours. And I've found no feasible way to implement it as no viable condition exists. The only way that seems to be possible is to mimic the Mentor Mod and require them to be in a settlement rather than in the field, which would relate more to governors than generals.

    I'll probably try some more this afternoon, but doesn't look promising since it most likely would require additional commands to be implemented by CA.

    Not at all Lord Finga - if you'd like I could arrange some files with only our additions so it's easily add to other mods. Though that would have to wait until this afternoon. Time for me to get some sleep, just got off work and going back in 6 hours.

    In 1.31 has the field training traits/triggers but like I said, doesn't work and currently seems impossible (There isn't an appropriate condition that works outside of a settlement). Though I'm still going to try some things with it.

    I believe I've found a working solution for field training. Finishing one last test on it then I'll upload for public use and feedback.

    Love these mods that makes DLV even more non-linear! Every turn, faction, general is different from each other because so many stuff crossing with the other, building a spider web of endless sets of almost unique features!! waa juz going cheerful here ^^

    I'm still testing it, got yesterday, but so far I liked it v much
