    Default Can't reinstall

Ok so I haven't played Medieval 2 in a while and just recently went back. I got the 1.2 patch and got the unable to start up error. I looked at the installation instructions. Since I had a small mod on the 1.1 before I upgraded it said I should reinstall it. I was unable to uninstall it from the start up menu I did it from the add remove programs instead. I then tried to install it but when I got to the menu it gave me uninstall as my only option. I clicked that again. I got the message the setup has detected that version 1.02.001 of
Medieval 2: Total War is already installed. This set up installs an earlier version of Medieval:
Total War (1.00.000) you will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version.
I went and searched my computer deleted everything to do with Medieval 2. It still doesn't work.

To me it sounds like the registry still has entries stating that it's still installed.

Google for regseeker or any registry-modifying-program and let is scan your registry, OR you could just do it yourself by running regedit in run/cmd. Hope it helps >-<

try going to start > run > regedit

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\ and delete the entire folder.

That should prevent the game from stopping at that point in the install; regardless, launch via setup.exe on the DVD rather than the launcher.
