Ideas for the next Forum tournament

Hail to all of the past & future tourney participents!
I don't want this to be a source of friction between the players, but I am curious as to what kind of tourney you guys want next. I made a fun poll for anyone (who's able to vote) to fill out, but I'm mostly concerned with the people who actually participate in the tourneys (or are seriously contemplating joining one). So, the poll is more of a fun thing.

So what kind of tournament do you guys want next?

I'll open up with some ideas given by other players, but feel free to add your own ideas so that we can talk about them. And if you see a good idea, then try to flesh that idea out more. Here are some ideas:

1) a 2 vs 2 tourney (I'm sure we could get a clan to participate if we needed more players)

2) a tourney where each player could only use a faction once before using another one. That would involve an honor system (as well as my ability to keep track of the factions used by each player)

3) a tourney with a different denarii value

4) a themed tourney such as one based on the Diadochi Wars (wars fought between Alexander the Great's Successors)

5) a tourney with a funky map (i.e. something like the British Grasslands, Illyrian Valley, etc)

6) a Free-For-All type tourney with a scored resolution

7) a Barbarian Invasion tourney

8) a tourney where certain factions are banned (i.e. Egypt, Rome, etc)

9) a pre-Marian units tourney

Those are just a few ideas. Everyone discuss other possible ideas or build upon a pre-existing idea.

This will be my first tourney to join if I fix my online until now so I voted for ''other'' as I would like 1 vs 1. or second where u can use faction once per game)

That would be more interesting i think, limit archers and cavalry and you may get some more tactical games. A roman cicil war tournament could be interesting also.

I said 2 vs. 2. I have never done that before and would like to try it.

I voted for the more denarii option, I've been playing games at 12.5k and 15k and they are just as good as the 10k games. I wouldn't go any higher than 15k though.

Also one idea is to put a pole where you ask people when is the best time for them? Because it seems like registration for tournaments is limited by people's schedules.

I also like the idea of a Successor themed tournament.

How about Rome is chosen as the only faction allowed, and an army is chosen that everyone has to use. i.e We would have exactly the same units, upgrades on both sides. If the map was Grassy Flatland, then it would be a true test of tactics and skill.

I don't mind what the next one is, I would rather just the usual 1v1, or maybe 2v2.

The person who said a seige tourney, wouldn't work as it's really difficult for the attacker to get over the walls on equal fotting, it needs to be 2v1 or 3v2 etc.

I like Oman's idea (a Rome Only Tourney with a specified army) or a 2 vs 2 since a lot of people seem interested in that. For a 2 vs 2, we'd have to make some really fair teams.

lol yeah i do agree with the fair teams, but i reacon if people really want to go with a certain person they should be allowed, agreed? 2v2 would be quality the downside is we would need alot of people but i reacon we could make the number

It's funny you mention that because I've never tried that feature myself with "Alexander." I think that would be a great "party" idea for those few of us who have the expansion.

Maybe, with a lot of people we could trust, we might be able to do something similar with RTW. For example, we can both pick our factions, but we'd let the computer select a random army for us. Again, this would be based on trust. Each player would have to stick with the first army chosen by the AI (and not hit the button again for a better army).

We'd only need 8 people. That would give us 4 teams. That would be enough for a Round Robin Tourney. I'd actually say 10 people is more ideal. That way, we'd have enough people in case 2 people dropped out.

Alexander has a tournament feature. Dont know how it works but it seems to score performance on the historical battles. Dont think it works on RTW/BI but the concept of scoring performance on historical battles might appeal?

Unit and faction choice is taken away from you..its fixed. Terrain and uneven forces is expected.

Those battles never seemed too popular on multiplayer but its something different.

Ideally, I'd like to have the tourney next Sunday. If this were a Team Tourney, would that be enough time for people to find partners and practice with them?

I don't like fighting team battles but I have to admit they're very interesting to watch. MsTubbZ (or is it just "TubbZ" now?) showed me some sweet team battles of his.

Plus, we don't have that pinhead moderating here. I just want to say the moderators here are awesome. They don't mind us holding tourneys here. Furthermore, it's very noob-friendly here (unlike at Heavens where that pinhead treats them like dirt). Then again, he treats everyone like dirt.
