I got this in my Macedonia campaign earlier, I tried to take a screenshot but my computer from when I alt+tabbed out of Rome: Total War. It was 10 or so turns into the game, I was busy slaughtering Greece and had forgotten about the Brutii until they bounded over my borders and attacked one of my armies. After I repelled them I got this message from a Brutii diplomat:

Request
"Please do not attack"

Demand
"Accept or we will attack"

I can only assume the diplomat they sent was completely rat-arsed when he struck up negotiations, because a ceasefire would of made alot more sense.

Its just a thing that the AI do. They don't want to end the war they just want time to regroup so don't give it to them.

I had it happen to me once when my army was adjacent to an enemy. I rejected, and they attacked me.

Yeah it happens to me all the time in my Carthaginian campaign. The Scipii keep trying that. AI stupidity...

Yea they're just too stupid. Sending messages that almost aren't worth seing. They also keep trying to bribe towns and such, but they never have enough money. It ends with the diplomat standing there, trying every time.
