Yes, you can make a new general to be at the start of the game. I'm assuming that's what you're looking for. Which faction is he going to be a part of? What will his name be? Give us all the information about him you can.

About inputing a portrait: I'm not sure how to do this, although I'm 99% sure it's possible.

you can rename the general name,go to (names.txt) in text folder and edit the name in red color like this :

{Sextus} Aragorn
