Can't patch

I've installed Medieval II Total War 1.0 but now when I try to patch it says there's no previous version of Medieval 2 Total War installed. Even though the game is there in the program files and it works fine. So how can I solve this and make patching able?

K I think I figured out what the problem is. I'm not using a cd to play M2TW I use a no-cd crack because I installed the game with my friend's cd. So when I wanted to patch I made a backup and just made a .rar file of the SEGA folder. Then I patched to 1.1 but the unpacking of the files messed the game up so I uninstalled and just used the Winrar file and copied the backup game into my program files. So I guess the game still thinks the game is uninstalled because I didn't use the cd but just copied the backup. Does anyone know how to let my computer think the game is installed? Or just any way to be able to patch it again.

No, you'll need to do a full reinstall.

Sorry, I didn't know about that rule. But the problem is solved already. Out of pure frustration I went to the store and bought the game myself since I like this game way too much to be troubled trying to play it all the time. The patching also works just fine now.
