    Icon5 Differences between versions..

Ok, i only played 6.2 (gold) and pretty liked it (except removed onagers), and now i think to get back on it..

So i need to know, is there any real difference between 6.2(gold) and 1.9 (platinum)? And also, what's the difference between v.1.9 normal and 1.9 mod switch? Mod switch is 100 MB's smaller, so is it missing some features? Its still more practical, since you dont have to reinstall the game latter, but if i'm gonna miss full pleasure (ya, i'm little bit perfectionist), then guess its not worth it?
Also, is it better to install over 1.6 BI or 1.5 Rome and does that make any deference?

    Thanx.

Mainly the ones brought by the engine of RTW v1.5 as opposed to the ones of RTW v1.2 on which RTR 6 Gold was based on(BTW, have you tried RTR 6 Gold or RTR 6.2? they are different versions).
Here is a reply to a similar post. We get the question all the time.

Macedonn can tell you more on the mods witch version. Basically it removes some files that can`t be used in the mod switch version and it`s uspposed to be better compressed. Like the videos. Other then that it is the same mod.

The BI engine allows you to mod in certain BI features. Like hording. But, if you don`t mod the game further or install a mini mod on top, you get the AI of BI which is supposed to be better.

    is mini mod this:
File: Version 1.9 Platinum Optional Add-ons
    Filesize: 816~ KB

And is it compatible with mod switch version?

    Thanx

EDIT: I've just readed your guides, great things
    Think i'll do this:
NOTE #2: after you have installed the game you should (if your harddisk space allows you) make a copy of your game folder and store it in another folder (name this new folder "backup" or as you wish) so if you mess something up you will not have to reinstall. In case you mess something up just delete the game from the folder where you have originaly installed it and replace it with a copy from your unaltered backup.
and download full version of 1.9

The guy who thought to name the Gold version 6.0(RTR 6.0 Gold) shoudl have thought again. IIRC the order the versions went was:
    RTR 6.0 -> RTR 6.2 -> RTR 6.3 -> RTR 6.0 Gold
The final one is the version that is the final one for RTW v1.2 from the RTR team.

I installed everything from totalrealism.net, but there was no PE in download section back then (few months ago)..
I know. RTRPE was started as an unofficial project by LestaT. It was meant to be just a port of RTR 6 Gold to the engine of RTW v1.5. As you saw, a few other(minor) things were added. The RTR team gave their blessing to the project and even some know how help afaik, but they didn`t support it officially. Hence it was not featured on their official website and the team working on RTRPE(it got to be a team at some point) was a different one. The main RTR team was supposed to do the RTR 7 version for BI v1.6, but since, a year and a few month later, it hasn`t been released yet, they decided to endorse RTRPE finally.

What I meant with the mini mod is that there are a few out there that work with and are installed on top of RTRPE and add a few more things. Some of these things are BI features like hording, loyalty and some unit abilities like swimming, shiltrom and so on. the idea being that these BI features don`t simple appear by following my guide and playing RTR with the BI.exe. They have to be enabled via modding the game`s files.

    is mini mod this:
File: Version 1.9 Platinum Optional Add-ons
    Filesize: 816~ KB
That is actually a collection of mini mods/add-ons for the main version of RTRPE. For example they give you the option to remove the landbridges and a few other things. The ones that are compatible with the mod switch version are the ones form that thread. I think they are part of the installer of that version.
