Default Rome Total Realism, Platinum 1.9. Best mod ever?

I hope it is not out of line to write some words about this awesome mod. It has finally reached perfection by the great job of the modders. Until now I always felt that playing Romans was a mere walk over, now these times are gone. Every battle counts and it has been turned into a real strategy game. Playing on very hard-very hard is a must when playing Rome. You will be faced by agressive Chartagenians, Gauls and Greeks. Other factions make their own empires whitch would lead to some major clashes later in the game when the compulsory provinces has to be conquered. Still the diplomacy part is weak, but the game it self has reached such a quality that this should be ignored and not in anyway decrease the great experience this is. Download and install. Here is the link, download and enjoy Rome Total War as if it was a new game! http://www.totalrealism.net/download.html

I agree RTR is good, but not that its the best ever. I Still think that Roman campaign in RTR is a lor easier than some other mod's.

Edit: Forgot to mention, if you play RTR I highly recommend you try the metro naval mod it really improves the gameplay imo.

While I agree that RTR PE is the best mod out there in my opinion. I would also highly recommend the addional add-ons. In particular Sinuhet's formations for better AI. Though I can't say the Roman campaign was difficult. I had the setting on vh/vh and I roled my way through italy and sicily and stopped cause I didn't think it would get much harder. I'm having a lot of fun with the Carthage campaign right now though and it's challenging.

First of all, the RTR team recommends M difficulty battles for balance issues on the battlefield. On VH, enemies get +7 attack thus screwing up the balance they took some time to strike, but if you really want a challenge then go for it.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

And you can team these with MC`s player formations. They are very good. Especially if you play with the romans.

The Diplomacy is terrible I have to say, once there is no more rebel provinces to take it's all eyes turned on your provinces and the only way to accept peace is by vassalage and even if you do they break the deal a turn later and attack again.

Have to say i'm having much fun with the Germanic Tribes, it is really hard to fight off Macedonia, Gaul and Liberia at the same time, if Rome decide to join in i'm screwed. The Spawn level of enemy factions is astronomical, full stack after full stack. I'm going to run out of citizens at this rate lol.

Diplomacy unfortunately is hard coded in RTW-BI.

Yes it can, it is a submod of rtr but has its own install path so does not affect your normal RTR at all, to check out the mod follow the link provided by archer of sparta.

I would say, no, it's not the best ever. I've played RTR 6.0, RTR 6.3, and RTR Plat last summer. I played EB this summer. I have to say EB is a lot better. Feels like the time did a better job. Both good mods though.

I played 6.2 (gold), whats real deference between those 2 (gold and platinium)? Having fun with XGM atm, not as detailed as RTR, but still quite fun

EB is the mod of choice for me, but all mods are good and the teams have put in alot of time and effort to give us a better gaming experiance, kudos to them.

RTR is good my favorite so far (and I got it a week ago). I'm playing as bactria as my first faction. The battles against the selucids are extremely fun. I've taking all of india and half of selucid empire and its really fun. Elephants got stupider though.

RTR PE was the best mod besides SPQR 6.4

Its just my kinda game slow paced, more battles. Plus the greeks have a hard Challenge, they are exposed to romans, carthaginians, macedonians, and egyptains in the beggining, the struggle to keep the homeland is ever so fun. It also has a poor economy at the beggining but if you just build a couple of roads you have money pouring in. Its better than XGM plus I love the map, its better than mundus magnus IMO.
