    Default Relationships always horrible

Well, I'm playing on H/M as the Turks of Rum and it appears as though my relations go down with factions all the time for no apparent reason. Is there an explanation for this? I thought this game pitted giant alliances against other giant alliances, but I'm about 30 or so turns in and I havn't been able to forge a single alliance dispite my various most generous attempts.

If someone is being picky about being your ally, type "~add_money 30000" (or more) when your construction is not stalled, offer it to them in exchange for an alliance, and then type "~add money *insert faction name here*, -30000". Cheap, I know, but it's the only consistent way to get alliances with Christian factions especially. The only one you generally don't need to do that with for the Turks is trying to ally with Sicily since they start out at war w/ Byzantium as well.

PS: for faction names just use vanilla names or "kiev", "kwarzhem", "syria" or "abbassid".

no need to cheat [i hate cheaters]

This is a very complex mod, why I do love it so much.

Fisrt of all when you are at war no one like to join you unless its their mortal enemy.

Si in case of the Sultinate of Rum make peace with the byzantines and you'll find the whole Islam world as your friend. Or have called an jihad against those and you have created a common enemy.

You play h/m i have no experience with that I only play vh/vh though relations are as well effected by your reputation and to my knowledge the only thing that can boost your reputation is by releasing captured enemies.

hope this give you a start without cheating

Well mate, if you are playing with the Turks, and plan to invade Europe and bring the entire known world under the Prophet's law, you don't need an alliance with the infidels Anyway, you will soon be the target for hordes of crusaders, and every catholic factions allied to you (if any) will betray you. Your only pals through the game will be the other muslim faction. But beware, at the first sign of weakness they will be glad to stab you in the back.

So, in other words, you're on your own!

Yeah i havent had any problems with alliances. in fact in about 15 turns in, england had already offered an alliance with me (HRE).

I believe your problem is the faction. the turks are in a really tough spot. nobody will want to ally with you if your already fighting a war, plus, every crusading army will march through turkey(either to attack her, or attack the holy land).

@ elcid, Torn has made an impressive balancing regarding alliances and such. Though the fact that you have a hard getting alliances with the seljuks/saldjuks Sultinate of Rum hasn't anything to do with future crussades.

At the start of this mod the sultinate of Rum is involved in war with with Basilisiea ton Romaion and since this is one of the top ranking nations no one will volunteer to worsen its relationship with a top ranking nation unless its a mortal enemy.

The AI cannot see what will happen in the future it only does what it is programmed to do.

If you want to make friends with an AI faction you just have to make it happy by your actions. I will not reveal any more tips because I believe it's a part of the adventure this game is. Although the name of this mod is the long road and very corny as the name is, it is exactly as promised.... the long road

I usually have 6 or 7 alliances early in the game, and then I end up with a dozen or more about 100 years into the campaign. I start to lose alliances after that as I expand aggressively, and then I have 6 or 7 weak allies that are sort of dependencies that seek my protection against larger powers. I currently am allied with the Rum and Moors in this fashion in the year 1220 and I am Venice. I don't think that there is anything wrong with alliances in this game, rather it is simply much easier to gain them if you are a powerful nation.
