Very hard vs hard battle difficulties

I was wondering which difficulty you guys use? I am talking about the battle difficulty and NOT the campain.

I have read somewhere that the very hard setting makes your general kinda, uh, suicidal, is this true? I am playing the hotseat mod with two buddies, and they have lost generals to my armies cause the AI did some dumb stuff... like charging their generals at my armies, etc.


BTW, I am using RTW 1.5 no BI

How do you do hotseat?

also, I've heard Very Hard can result in some very stupid things (e.g. Hastati beating phalanxes head on). Regardless, all a higher difficulty does (I think) is boost the power of the enemy units (+3 attack and defense, I think for Hard).

its +4 attack and morale each difficulty level higher than medium


plain hard is usually the most balanced.

I like Vh the best, it can be occasionally tricky in the beginning, but in the longer term it provides some competition for the gold chevroned troops you will inevitably have.

i dont see a difference, Medium, hard and VHard is all the same to me basically, ur reinforcements seem to get dumb each higher level though

even though it says its more difficult the AI still makes alot of stupid mistakes, if you want a real challenge in battles i think MP is the best thing to do

The hardest difficulty for both is (Campaign/Battle) H/VH

I play H/H usually, VH for really easy campaigns, for example Romans.
