    Default The Bourne Ultimatum

    Saw it yesterday. Early Friday.

Fantastic. Probably the best one yet. If it isn't the best one, its definitely tied for top spot with the first one.

    Highly recommended.

I thought it was rather well written, and would agree that of the three its probably the best to date.

One comment: Camera angles/positioning. I realize they are going for a sort of 'real time, on site' feel when the camera crew follow the actors on foot (resulting in a lot of jostling). While I like this view and think it is effective, I think they went a little overboard with it the results of which were a little disorienting.

So aside from me feeling slightly dizzy upon exiting the theater, it was seven dollars well spent.

Good to hear, the second one was a bit lackluster to me.

    I'll have to see it.

I liked the two previous but haven't seen [i]The Bourne Ultimatum[i] yet. The only problem I have with these is that they are forgettable. I won't really remember them in 10 years. They've shown too much in the commercials too. I hate that.

I never saw the first two but some of my friends really wanted to go see it so I tagged along...

It actually wasn't too bad considering I had no backstory to go on - one thing I liked about it was that it didn't really feel like two hours, it was a nice fast paced thriller/conspiracy flick IMO.

I do agree with Publius though - the camera work was a little iffy IMO...I don't like the reverse-bullet time (i.e. instead of showing action sequences in slow mo, action sequences are sped up and the camera moves/shakes ALOT). A majority of the time you couldn't see what was going on!

Has anyone read the books? I really liked the books, but the movie just took a totally different pathway (refreshing in a way.)

I have never seen the other ones, but the reviews are really good, so I'm thinking about netflixing the first two and then going to see this one.

You can skip the second one. It wasn't bad or anything. It just wasn't the first or the third one.

After we saw the movie my one friend (who's, I guess, read the books) said he was a little disappointed in the third film. According to him the book was much better and had a totally different ending that made more sense or something like that...

I'm not even going to dignify that with a response.

On-topic, is the plot easy to follow? I can remember the 1st and 2nd films and had pretty much no idea what was going on (the first film, more so).

I'm sure the storyline's good, but it's physically impossible for me to watch this movie. After watching the first 30 minutes of "The Bourne Supremacy," I couldn't drive home for an hour because I was so motion-sick.

I don't understand why filmmakers would spend so much time/money on choreographing great action scenes, and then shake the camera so hard that you can't even see what's going on. If they don't want us to watch their movies, I won't.

I hope they make a fourth movie called the "Bourne Stupidity" where the filmmakers are forced to watch their own movie (without the comfort of a barf bag).

Watched it yesterday since it only came out here a month later.
I gotta say I really liked it. It was fast paced from beginning to end, filled in the gaps, neatly joining the storyline of supremacy and had some great action scenes. Sure, the shaky, quick-cut camera could get annoying and that seems all that people complain about, but I thought it mostly worked pretty good in this one. Specifically the fight against the assassin Desh in Morocco felt so violent and intense through the camera work that it was one of those rare moments where I was literally on the edge of my seat (as much as I hate those clicheed phrases). This installment is gonna make the Bourne franchise one of the best action trilogies ever. I sure do hope it's not going to become a James Bond kind of franchise with someone else stepping in for Matt Damon should they feel the need to cash in on the name some more.
