Sometimes when I have no point or desire of the battle outcome,So yes If it is me 10 to 3 than Of course!

If you auto-resolve battles, for some reason you will quite often get the severely wounded trait. I think this is because the trait is triggered when the general loses a certain number of hit points during a battle. I guess that when battles are auto-resolved, the game automatically deducts hit points in its calculations so that there is a chance that you will lose your general if you auto-resolve.
As for that disease you mention, the only disease in the game I have seen is Scurvy, and that one disappears in a turn or two, with a better chance of recovery if you move the general to a settlement.

As I said before, your generals will recover from scurvy. It's not a permanent trait.
