Modern: Total War?

I know this might be a big step from medieval but in the future you think we would be seeing modern total war?

Like it starts out in WW2 era then there is a series of marian reform type things as you advance into time. Of coarse it would be a big map but wouldn't that be cool? Little bit of beyonet mele, lots of gun fire... but it could involve a lot of strategy.

Michael de Plater, works with the TW franchise, is already working on Tom Clansy's EndWar, you never know there might be a TW kinda Modern War.

prehaps the next age of total war will be horse and musket prehaps starting from the 17th century and ending at the end of the 18th century. I could picking powers of Great Britain, France, Austria, Prussia, Spain, Portugal, netherlands, Russia, Sweden, Denmark, ottomans and the italian states etc.
Other outside powers like India, different native american tribes etc that would be cool.

yeah but whats the point of missing out the 18th century and going straight to Napoleon so we miss on the great battles around the globe of that time, people like fredrick the great, duke of malborough, Villars, historical battles from the spanish war of succession, Austrian war of succession, Seven years war, even the american revolution.

Napoleon should be an expansion or add on or something since we've never really seen a total war verision of the 18th century yet and would be very cool.

This game has concept has 'units' that are always grouped together with large numbers. However, in modern warfare, we use small arms tactics.

That means instead of marching in formation to get gunned down, there are much smaller groups that don't exactly perform like the Roman Legions or the Greek Hoplites.

So, no, it is impossible. If you want the campaign map part of the game, go with Hearts of Iron. If you want the tactical battle, look to Company of Heroes.

I don't think that it would work. The charm with RTW is that is ancient, not that there are so many different time ages. I like RTW, but medieval isn't as good in my opinion. I would love to se RTW 2, or a TW-game with ancient Greece or something, but I would definateley not like to see ww2 TW-game.

why modern total war, you have tanks planes and units that will be shooting across the screen at eachother now tell me whats fun about that?

total war revoles around a guy with a wooden stick with a pointy metal attached to it, give him a big piece of wood and lookie here you got a spearmen!


pit him aganist another person with the same amount of equipment, and you got 2 people trying to poke and prod eachother to death.

You got a guy, with gun, and a helmet, and maybe some fancy uniform thats all.

now tell me whats more fun, seeing 2 guys trying to poke and prod eachother with pointy sticks, multiplied 900 times, so you have a large mass of people trying poke eachother or??

you decide, total war is the only company that gets things right, and going to the markert about modern warfare is absured, and you have a bagillion other lackluster companies doing the same, why move out of a profitable market position in going into an already done to death era almost with fancy gadgets shooting eachother whats fun in that?
