“For God and King”
Mod Played: PRO DEO ET REGE

I've finally found some time to actually play this game again after modding it for so long. This is my first attempt at an AAR.
Magyar Királyság
The year is 1080 A.D. We are the people of Hungary. Under our venerable and honorable leader, László Árpádházi we have flourished and prospered. Our men are strong and our women bear us many children.
However, our way-of-life is increasingly threatened. We find ourselves situated between two great powers – the Holy Roman Empire to the West and the Romans to the South and East of us. We have fought back Imperial aggression on two occasions before; we fear the time comes when we have to once again.
The Romans have left us alone…so far. Although their new emperor, Aleksios, is ambitious and is intent of restoring Roman glory. He undoubtedly has designs on reclaiming Western lands. Should he undertake such a plan, he will have to face our brave and noble warriors. And he will surely fail.
CHAPTER I: TO THE EAST
István, our King’s trusted man for rather dangerous affairs, brings word to the court that to the east, the Cumans, those nomadic warriors orignally from north of the Black Sea, have settled down and have established a small village beyond the Carpathians that grows prosperous by the day.
Our most-wise ruler, László , intent on Christianizing these pagan and barbarous peoples, decides this village must be taken. László sends word to his nephew, Kálmán, son of his late-brother Geza, to take this small but strategically-placed village.
After a night’s camp in the Carpathian Mountains, Kálmán and his nobles arrive at the Cuman village. Upon hearing word from his scouts that the Cuman horsemen are away on a raiding expedition to the north, Kálmán decides that the Lord has granted his men a most-favorable break. Renowned for their horsemanship, the Cumans are a dangerous foe. On foot, hopefully the fight will be much less tougher.
Kálmán and his Noblemen descend upon the village. They are accompanied by Slav and Croat auxiliaries.
Kálmán orders his archers and his Slav auxiliaries to surround the village on three sides.
Realizing that they are surrounded, the Cumans quickly grab whatever weapons they can find. Armed with both spears and bows, they scramble to the town square and their general hastily forms a defense.
Kálmán orders his archers to close in.
Coming under heavy-fire from the Cuman archers, their courage does not falter and they return fire.
With a sound of the horn, the Slavs and Croats are ordered to rush the town square.
Fierce fighting breaks out on the street.
Sensing his Slav and Croat’s auxiliaries courage wavering, Kálmán orders his dismounted nobles in to the fray.
With the nobles’ bravery and courage acting as shining-examples, the men’s fighting spirit is reinvigorated!
The tide of battle turned, Kálmán orders his mounted Nobles in to finish the job and take care of the stragglers.
With their leader fallen, the Cumans lose heart and are easily struck down. The battle is soon over and we consider ourselves blessed to be victorious.
CHAPTER I: EPILOGUE
With our borders now extending as far as the Black Sea and seemingly secure for now, our leader, László embarks upon a series of agricultural reforms that will surely bring even more prosperity to our people.
Our great heir, Kálmán marries the lovely Sarolta Feher and retires to his estate in Cluj-Napoca. It is a time of peace...but harder times are ahead.
To be continued...
