    Okay.

Try a reinstall of the game, with a direct patch to 1.2, and see if that helps.

Well, first thing is first, reinstall. That will work most of the time.

If that does not work, then try the unpatched version - does that work? If not, then you know your problem. Try cleaning out yor registry of all things M2TW (Warning - if you do not know what you are doing, then I do not advise doing this, unless you get a reg cleaner program).
Maybe there is a setting on your PC conflicting with M2TW. What are your system specs?

If the unpatched version works, then install the 1.1 patch. Does that work? If not, then maybe you got a corrupted download of that patch. Re-download and install.

If the 1.1 patch works, but 1.2 does not, then you know your problem: the 1.2 patch. Did you re-start your PC after you installed it? Maybe you got a corrupted download...

Oh, and Sapi, you need to have the 1.1 patch installed before you can install 1.2.

Conversely, if you have the 1.1 patch installed there is a very high chance that the patching process will fail

The 1.02 or as we seem to call it 1.2 patch has basically many issues. The patch unfortunately doesnt work well. They actually need a patch that fixes the patch. It took me six or seven tries before I got it working. Sapi is absolutely correct if you have 1.01 or also know as 1.1 patch you need to get rid of it to install 1.2. It will not work together at all. The error unspecified error and will now exit has been posted time and again it is what I think 90% of us have seen from this patch. I have read that the patch leaks a memory leak in the patch is creating the issue. There is no way to fix it as far as I can tell. If your one of the lucky ones and have gotten it to work count your blessings. The other issue people are having is multiple installs that are creating some other issue that is truly bizarre where the game just crashes for them without error and it seems even going back to 1.0 isnt helping. I did finally after many reinstalls got it to hold for me and then I started playing with some MODs and had to do several uninstalls to successfully remove some of those MODs. Now Im back to square one and cannot get the patch to work again without the error so Im back again playing 1.0 and Its not crashing I dont want to push my luck so Im staying with 1.0 until Kingdoms comes out. Hopefully everything thing will be good again and Kingdoms will patch and add the new content correctly. I would be careful how many times your installing and uninstalling this game, there are horror stories all over twcenter from members that have completely hosed the game. Best advice I can offer, if it is not working after a half a dozen tries I would stop and just play 1.0 until Kingdoms is out. Hopefully after a half dozen tries you can still play 1.0 with it out it being destroyed.

Good Luck all its a SEGA thing.

i have the same problem, i had it working before, see i was using this mod SS, i tried unpacking in the original folder, because i need certain files for small modding, but it just messed up my game completely, i did delete the new geo txt and the configuration thingy btw. This is becoming a big issue.

the first time, i applied 1.1 and then 1.2, i don't know what you guys are talking about putting the patch fresh on. It worked for me fine. The thing is tho, now i'm try to reinstall, over and over. It just keeps crashing, now that i thought about it, i think it could be the fresh on with 1.2 patch issue, because i tried that 3 times and failed miserably. the first time when the game actually did work like i said, is when i applied both patches. I don't know if it'll work right now, because it's still in the process of installing..

here is the log from last installation

    Your installation is corrupted.

You need to uninstall, then install and patch straight to 1.2 without editing anything in between.

Do not use a no-cd crack at any stage, either.

Yes, I am sure there are. However, most mods have all updated to 1.2, so you will have to do some back tracking to find the earlier versions. I think Lands to Conquer enabled the Mongols.
