Scotland - total war; RECRUITING

Hello!
Scotland - total war is a mod about the scottish wars for independance.
The factions will be 18 traditional scottish clans, the english and the scottish crown who will work like the papal state. They will try to unite the clans against the england and they will also be able to excomunnicate clans who act against the will of the crown.

Currently we are two members working on this mod and we would like more.
We need:
Coders/Scripters
Skinners
Voice Actors
Musicians

units will be based on the braveheart movies(clans will have original tartan and bagpipers). the campain map will include scotland and most of england and wales.

Sounds like a fun idea, but won't it be overshadowed by Kingdoms?

it wont, because it will feature scotland and england as main factions. it will also be rather hard for the scottish to advance into england, as you would have to request united attackes(crusades) on english settlements. so it will be rather different than kingdoms, but judge it for yourself once beta comes out

Nice idea, be my guest using Character Names Project, I made the Scottish namelists myself using medieval grammar of the time, normal one would be pre-1200, Kingdoms one post-1200.

And of course English names, etc. And maybe adding a Welsh or even an Irish kingdom?

It will be featuring a lot of Scottish and Welsh but the problem is that Scot unit is very few and making a lot of the faction will be tough.

I think if we can separate them like Elite, Regular and Light it will be easier.

And their cavalry is limited so they will probably limited. However there should be a lot of light and spear unit.

Maybe it will be a battle of quantity(Scot) over quality(English).

Yes, making units like elites, regulars and lights sounds like a good idea.
And it's true the scottish cavalry is limited, mainly light ones.

The English had better quality but the scots where many and they fighted for thier freedom and that makes big diffrence. Giving the Scots a lot of morale would make that work, but it'll be hard to balance them because the english where better trained and better equipped and better than the scottish in a lot of diffrent ways. The Scottish are many and divided into clans so if they can stand united they will be a great threat to the english but if they can't, they'll probably fall, one after the other..

Atm, all of this isn't decided ofcourse. First we're going to make the units, the map and such things. Then we can start balancing the game.

And they were seeking that freedom every time they crossed the border and invaded Northumberland were they?

Beware of the Mel Gibson version of history as it has very little to do with reality!

That said, it looks like this might be a fun mod and it would be interesting to see if as a Scottish player you can pull of a successful invasion of Northern England and actually hold onto it for more than a short time.

Yeah making a mod is tough. But it will be cool that if the city English are occupying has a tendency to rebel thus making it harder even though beating Scot is easy. Anyone join this mod yet?
