I turned fog of war off just to look a round for a bit then when I turned it off the sea turned black, no more ripples just black. Help.

Btw i dont consider toggle_fow a cheat. Every time i get faction destroyed news i toggle it to see whats going on and how world looks like...

Yeah, but at last there should be some news, like Romans couquered Cartage, or Egyptians lost Alexandria.. If there is news about plague in Alexandria, there should be also news about some big battles and such, jmo...

NAh I just downloaded SPQR mod, I wanted to look around and see the land features etc. But looks like someone dropped oil into the sea.

Retrying toggle_fow again didn't work either.

This happens a lot, and it doesn't affect your game in anyway. You don't need to start a whole new campaign, just close Rome Total War and then restart it. When you reload your game, the sea should be back to normal.

Also, I think that if you fight a battle, when you return to the campaign map the sea will have turned back to blue.

toggle_fow IMO is okay to use. I mean, nobody wants to walk around in some massive desert territory for like three turns looking for the settlement. And in real life, people were gonna know where the settlements were.

when walking in desert you always can see settlements without toggle_fow

just look at green circles in sand......

The fastest way is to go to options and toggle campaign resolution and put it slightly higher or lower than the setting you have it on. Then switch it back and it should be fine.

Lol there's no need for turning off fog of war. I've played RTW for a long time, and I've used the map you get when you buy it and such things. I also know where almost every settlement in the world is. Just look at the map. Otherwise it get's too easy.

This happens to me all the time. Just re-load that save game and it should be fine. If that doesn't work, the blackness doesn't affect anything, just play on.
