    Icon5 AI/ Diplomacy

    Hi there,

Does LTC do anything with the random pestering AI or the one-sided diplomacy of Vanilla?

What I mean is does it stop other factions from just having little jabs at you constantly as opposed to conducting proper all-out strikes?

(Also, does it enable rebels to siege towns and castles?)

On the diplomacy thing, does playing on 'hard' still mean that you gradually lose rep with every faction as the game proceeds? I do agree that this should be the case as relationships neglected would deteriorate in reality, but providing there is balance.

To explain, if your relationship with AI factions deteriorates over time then their's should with each other too. Vanilla does seem to have a trend of focusing on AI v Human and neglects AI v AI a little... :hm:

The relations drop in LTC has been changed so that on H it is the same as vanilla medium, on VH it is the same as vanilla H.

There is also a money script for the ai that is tied to difficulty that only gives money on H or Vh, and then more on VH than on H. This helps the ai build up more and do better.

For 3.1/3.2/4.0(not sure which yet) i am looking into the campaign ai and faction standing settings in order to make some small changes to make things better.

Ah good stuff, I will play on H/ H then.

For what it's worth, in terms of small changes to the Campaign AI, I'd suggest making AI attacks more believable, as in they'd come at you with a good well-balanced force, and keep trying to take you until they are beaten (hopefully!) - as oppose to just harrying attacks.

I suppose that means tweaking the diplomacy a bit too as in they'd persist until certain global and relational situations changed to prevent them from persisting e.g. a warning from the Pope, no money, one of their allies drops-out etc.

I'm not too sure Vanilla AI always plays by the same rules you do...

PS. I'm not too sure what 'faction standing settings' are?

Yeah there are limits to what can be done, it is all pretty simplified and does not go into the details you specify in your post.

I can imagine actually, but from what I've read on here it sounds like you've done a great job already.
