Difficulty?

Whats the optimum difficulty setting to play this mod on?
VH/M?

I usually keep battles on medium, because i read that it has nothing to do with the AI tactics, but just boosts up the stats of the computers units. Is this true?

I play on H/H. I know that battles are more challenging, but your probably right that its just AI units getting better stats.

For the campaign, I have heard that Hard is more challenging than VH in the long run because the AI on VH spends more money early game sending streams of units at you as opposed to building up an economy and buildings.

I am afraid this assumption is not correct, though it may differ from mod to mod. The AI in this mod is not designed to gb the human player. Wars only appear after the many independent settlements are conquered. early game the only wars that occur are caused by jihads/crusades. The building of an economy is hardcoded
