Announcement: Taking a Break

I'd like to announce that after the release of CAE v1.3 I'm taking a break from the mod.

As for reasons that I could give, modding and playing mtw2 for 8-9 months and not being interested in or playing any other game,I believe had led a considerable amount of loss in terms of motivation and interest.

Another reason perphaps that the same rule applies to enthusiasm,I've implemented most or nearly all of the ideas that I wished to feature in this great game.Some of the ideas needs much testing and in this process one gets weary of all CTDs and especially a computer full of hundreds of mtw2 modified or vanilla files.

As like in everythingelse the modding process of mtw2 is also evaluating and in constant progress.The best example to that is the use of mesh files that like in mods such as Broken Crescent,Sicilian Vespers and Dawn of Kingdoms many new units and weapons are created from scratch by editing mesh files.

For the improvement of CAE,the effective use of mesh files is also essential.I myself lack the skill of modelling,although recently I learnt a bit of milkshape and used it for certain units,that is not enough to attain the desired much more authentic and realistic(historical) units.

SpaceUnion the sole modeler that I've worked together(and enjoyed that because basically he is a good guy) had been working on modelling the Teutonic Knights which took about at least 4 weeks,so making additional remodelled units seems out of question as obviously it takes long time.

Enclosing I think I don't have much else to do about Clouds Across Europe and can't contribute much longer to the community and am kind of tired.. So as I emphasized in the first paragraph after the release of CAE v1.3 I will take a break from the mod,how long this will take I am not sure...

I found it proper to make this announcement to prevent people having much higher hopes and expectations; at the risk of cutting complete interest in the mod.

I'd like to specifically indicate that this doesn't mean that the mod is dead,I've released multiple of versions and there is already enough material,I'll view the sub-forum and will stick around to answer questions about the mod,and to help people who have problems...

In the light of this I shall ask certain suggestion posts about the mod to be ceased after the CAE v1.3..

Man that's sad to hear but its your call. Indeed you should take a break and then come back after a while. It always helps in other stuff so why not in the modding world.

As for actual unit creation, I have to admit that the reason why it took so long is mostly because neither of us have had much experience in modelling and implenting new models for M2TW from scratch. So it was mostly a guess-and-hope-it-works kind of method. Various other things came in the way like no skinner so that contributed to why it took so long. I'm pretty confident now that we got this working that we could start modelling units and implenting them quickly.

But take your break as long as ya need. I'll still be here to do modelling once you return. Its been a great time working with you man and hopefully you'll be back soon. Cheers.

Btw, we actually found a skinner (well a skinner-to-be). He's new to the job but he's willing to learn and everything. You can check our ad thread in the Ad forum. Its the top thread there.

After all that you've done I believe that you have earned a much needed break. Its sad to here that this is causing you so much trouble but it is totally understandable that such a thing would cause you so much stress. I think a break is the best thing for you. I hope that this dosent mean the end of the project as I think there is much more that can be done. Sorry I couldn't be any help and I hope we see your hand in play once again.

It will be sad that you are gone, Still you deserve it. A break is always a good thing. The version already done are great, the v 1.3 coming out seems to be great too. Your creations and especially this mod is the best mod in the whole Total war center and you should feel proud about that.

Whether you are returning or not, I would love to see improvements in the mod. But it is you who should decide that and even if you aren't returning to continue the mod has reached it's heights.

Even if it is the end of the CAE. The whole progress has been great, personally I am glad to have tried to help with Sweden and Abbasids, and this mod is something that all MTW games and mods should remember, This is a mod worthy enough of being incorporated within the history of all Total war games.

Best of wishes in your future endeavors! Clouds Across Europe is a big part of the TWC Mod Scene, so you'll be missed! Get some rest, clear your mind and go from there!

I want to say that your mod is one of the best mods in the TW Community.

I wish you all the luck you need to stay away from TW games and Gaming It's Self for a while until you Regime you energy.Than Returned with excitement and enthusiasm.So go and regain your motivation and Interest in life.

Have you heard of Bodrum? I can go there but since I'm a sociapath and as I just lost my last friend today I guess I'll have to go ther myself,which I'm quite reluctant to do so.

Note that in Bodrum there are mostly tourists rather than Turks,the majority of them being British.. So it's most likely that you will meet British girls

Well there are germans too.I even recall some Teutonic Knights as tourists,while walking on the streets of Bodrum I accidentally poured my ice cream into one of the Knights full plate and he beat me with his shield to a pulp

haha nice story, I was once scared by Germans. I was 7 and couldn't speak English ( or German) so the Hotel's cat had three kittens, I was watching them and then a german kid starts talkign german to me. I ran to my dad and asked him what to say, then he said that I should say " I don't speak German" so I did that, and another Turk with his german girlfriend came, and believ it or not, the woman sudenly said something in English. This time I jsut ran away
