Great battle. Good tactics.
Everything runs so smooth on that computer.

Realistic! I would like to make a Gladiator Battle using this mod![The Movie not like a real gladiator battle.]
nice battle. Just over 6 minutes! and i noticed you don't pause the game to give orders. I gotta admit that i do. a few questions though?
was this a campaign battle? why didn't you pursue? why don't you close ranks between cohorts?
Yes it was a campaign battle, obviously because I have a named general, and a named legion.
It was a VERY easy battle, because it was a completely fresh legion with a veteran general, against a gaul army commanded by a captain.
I don't have a rule against pausing to give orders, its just I didn't need to in that battle cause it was so easy.
I did pursue... only 300 men escaped from the battle. I don't usually pursue to the last man as its a waste of time.
As for closing the ranks, I like to keep as close to the default formation since its easier. Also I can extend my line further that way. If the enemy breaks through the line, the rear rank can close it as you saw.
Great battle, Garnier!
I have to say, I learned a few things from it. And kudos for not pausing to issue orders.
It's nice to see a battle with a play by play - something you can really learn from, and which newer guys would probably do very well to watch.
Do you have any others? How about one vs. the Germans - I'd like to see how you fight them.
It was my first time ever recording a battle, and first time posting on youtube. I will make more for sure. It just takes time, to make the movie and to upload it.
You did good, though theres a couple of things I'd do differently.
For example, when your spear auxilia on your right flank engages the enemy cavarly, I would not have engages it again with my cavarly, I would have ignored it and hit their rear soon, as I value cohorts more than the auxillia.
It's my general rule of not being fair, and allowing using local weight of numbers.
Also I would have sent in the second line and withdrew the first, keeps casulties even.
Normally I would withdraw the first line, but that battle went so quickly I didn't think about it. And yes it may have been better to flank with the cavalry immediately, but usually I try to eliminate their cavalry completely as soon as possible, because often they will escape from my infantry, and then fall upon my rear or kill my general.
If they had pulled away from your spear's, your general could hold them long enough for the sears to crush them.
But same result in the end.
Somethings I risk placing all my cavarly together, with reserves gaurding my flank (risky), then once the lines meet, I chose their weakest unit, and crush it, making a rout.
Next up is a battle against greece. I just fought it, so I just have to export the movie and upload to youtube. Could be a while though.
Well, you know those hastati... lolGood battle and u stuck by house rules now I see that u have ur republicans bashing weak Gauls with only the first rank... I wanna see a pre marian legion doing the same lol
If it was a legion with 10 princepes

That was a close call... ur line broke all over lol... Where are the Spartans![]()
now a question... do u use guard mode with ur cohorts? I normally hold the line against enemy charge with guard mode and then I charge the reserves with 'fight at will' and giv'em hell lol
Do you think the cavalry is more effective in double line formation?
I took sparta long ago. These troops are from constantinople, or asia minor. That was a close call... ur line broke all over lol... Where are the Spartans![]()
In the first video I said that I put the front cohorts on hold formation, and the rear on fight at will like you said.now a question... do u use guard mode with ur cohorts? I normally hold the line against enemy charge with guard mode and then I charge the reserves with 'fight at will' and giv'em hell lol
Than what? I almost always charge in two rank lines, because its the widest and thus can cover more area. Unless I'm charging through a narrow area, where I condense it until it will fit.Do you think the cavalry is more effective in double line formation?
Great battle. For a while there it look like you were going to lose. Your lines were to thin. But you pulled a victory out of it.

I really enjoyed these, thanks. I also learned a couple things.
For example, I never used wedge formation to pursue. I will have to try that in my next battle.
