Technical question and request for R:TW guides

I'm looking for a Rome: Total War guide that is detailed and easy to read. I visited here a couple of months ago and found one. But now, I can't remember the username of the person. She had "froggy" in her username, and she was a well-respected member of TWC and had several awards. Does that ring a bell with anyone?

I'm also looking for a guide that details how to make tweaks to the game, such as getting rid of the opening movie and those annoying green arrows. Does anyone know of a good one?

Froggbeastegg's Guide is very good. There is also the Smackus Maximus guide for RTW here:

To turn off the green arrows go to your RTW\Preferences\Preferences.txt file. Scroll down to DISABLE_ARROW_MARKERS: and change it to TRUE.

To turn off the intro movies, go to your shortcut's command line and add the following switch: -nm

Also, if you add in the -show_err switch, it will make the game give you an error message if it crashes while starting up. Very handy.

It looks like this:

"C:\Rome\Rome Total War Vanilla 1.5\RomeTW.exe" -show_err -nm

There are short guides to editing both the Preferences.txt file and command line switches floating around out there. I do not recall exactly where however. Take a look in the Downloads section or try Googling them.

Thank you for your help, my friends. It has been very much appreciated. However, when I tried to add "-nm" to the "target" or "start in" line, it gave me a message saying that it is not valid. I'm stumped.
