    And for us British: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=CP-143-IN

I am not sure if it is just cheap because of the 'this week deals' or if it also low because of the intel price drops (everywhere or just US?) but still, a bargain.

    Australia.

    http://www.itestate.com.au Q6600 - $329

For the first time in, well ever, it is now possible to build a top of the line computer for <$2000 in Australia (and I mean top of the line as Quad core, 4gb good ram, 8800GTX, 680i motherboard, etc).

Meh. At least the shop I shop from here in Finland still lists the Q6600 as over 500€...

Hmm, I also thought about buying Q6600, now that it's already 24th.
Although I saw some reviews about q6600 not holding up as high as E6850 in some games. Probably because of the clock speed, which is lower with the quad.

Still, Should I go for the quad over the new dual core? I like to multi-task a lot. I also use my computer for other things such as photoshop, iTunes, WMP etc. Though I'm not doing any 3-d rendering or anything with Maya or something like that.

BTW, are there any new mobo suggestions for the E6850 and Q6600? I'm probably gonna buy some killer videocard too.

Man I was in germany on a language course for the last 3 weeks, and now I can't even type/use my computer mouse properly. Kinda weird.

I have a plan of my own, im not saying you should do this but it might inspire you. The plan is that i buy one of the new dual core E6550, 6750 or E6850 and then wait for the penryn quad core to arrive. The penryn is 45nm which is colder and more efficient clock for clock wise compared to Kentsfield
    (Q6600)

My reasoning is that i want to overclock alot and Q6600 is known to be fairly modest when it comes to overclocking especially if you get unlucky batch of cores.

Now about the motherboards All intel P35 chipset will support 1333mhz FSB along with the penryn. So its either the ASUS P5K, Gigabyte GA-P35, ABIT IP35 or MSI P35 series That will suit you and your price-range. Im fairly sure the Nvidia 680i supports the 1333mhz FSB cpu's but wont be compatible with the upcoming penryn line.

Im going to try ABIT IP35Pro which should be a good board to overclock your processor.

The G33 boards support the 1333 FSB as well.
