New to this mod, very pleased but with a few questions.

1.My relations keep going down with every faction. I have not attacked nor been attacked by anyone, have no spys or assaisins in foreign lands, have trade rights with everyone and offered them at least 100 florins for them. Can someone fill me in? -Playing as Sicily, about 40 turns.

2.Education: Do I have one turn to move the new comer to the particular city or castle? Is it four years sequentially or four years total -ie Can I move them out for a turn then return them to continue education?

    3. (Bug)Had a dhow with a picture of peasant or some foot soldier (looked like it was from RTW) on the info window.

    4. Request: Years campaigning trait.

    Thanks in advance.

Ive found that if you have just trade rights your relations with that faction will continue to fall as time goes by. If you had an alliance with a certain faction your relations will continue to go up as time goes by with no maintanence of the relationship. But with trade rights you will have to continue to give them free stuff to keep your relations good. Not sure why there is such a negative effect. Doesnt matter if you are sending spies, priests, or armies thru there territory or not. Of course with armies you will usaully see an immediate negative impact.

As for educating you kids Im not real sure what is best. What I do is move them to my capital once Ive built a first level university. Or to a castle that has a first level academy. Not sure what works best. I also leave them outside of a settlement for atleast 2 turns to get the scout trait. I would like to get more info about educating my family members as well.

    Hope this helps a bit.

The diplomacy in this mod is pretty good. If your relations are very high, they will tend to go down. Also if your relations are very low, they will tend to rise. If you attack a nation, their allies will like you less. Even if you have abysmal relations with a nation, it is unlikely that they will attack you if you are more powerful than they are. Also, your neighbors will like you less as you grow in power. Most of my Neighbors hate me, even if I haven't invaded their territory. Overall, the diplomacy in this mod allows the player to fight limited wars (attacking and sacking one or two provinces) and still obtain a peaceful settlement within a few years. I have fought 15 or so wars in the 120 years of my current campaign, and only one was very epic - against the sultanate of Rum (45 years). I have expanded my empire and maintained a balance of power in Europe, Africa and the middle East by giving conquered and sacked territories to small powers in return for alliances. Ultimately, the Rum are a reliable buffer state between myself and the Kievan Rus and Abbassid empire. I raid both of those empires and loot their cities before retreating back behind a strip of currently allied Rum provinces (I am Venice). Without the diplomacy model of TLR this would be impossible, as my enemies would prove to be intractable on the issue of war and peace. As to the issue of training, I don't know much. If a family member or general is destined to be a governor, I simply put them in a castle (where incompetence is harmless) for about ten years until they get traits that indicate that they are a competent or loved governor. Then I send them to a city when the previous gov dies, and they spend the next 35 years running the place. For military leaders, I might have them warm up on crusade or against rebels, but they mostly just join in whatever war is occuring in their region and train up on the job.

Interesting info about the diplomacy. Nobody seems to know much about education. From what I gathered from the wikipedia description, education seems to be a main feature, is it just not implemented yet? I thought some kind of scroll would come up when a man "came of age" asking me how to train him and fill me in on the details or at least something. Anyway if anyone can answer my specific questions about education in my first post it would be much appreciated.

Some of the info in the wiki is based upon the upcoming 2.1 beta. Tornight probably won't release that for a few weeks though. I think that the current system of education (improving governor traits for example) is out of the BBB mod. Currently, the characters gain traits that make them better governors over time depending on how long they have been in that position. I think that what you are reading about is a more ambitious system that will be added in a near-future release. After torn's kid is born anyway...
