1.2 Install Help

I'm sure everyone here has read the same..."Hey guys I just installed 1.2 and now I get an unspecified error during battles" message as have I. But no where in these posts do I get a clear answer, they are generally cryptic or give the same answers I can't use.

So here it goes. I painstakingly downloaded the 1.2 patch. As per usual I used WinRAR to unpack the file to a folder on my desktop. I then used the setup.exe file to start the update. It does so...blam its updated it even says so. (This is done from a fresh 1.0)

Now I go to play the game and it gives me an unspecified error when entering any battle.

The only answers ive seen are about deleting two descr_geography files I don't even have and gibberish about unpacking data files in the mtwII directory.

Any help on clear and proper installation procedures would be appreciated. Thanks.

If the game crashes when entering any battle, and you have unpacked the pack files, you need to delete the descr_geography files, as stated in the readme.

If the crashes only occur on loading siege battles, you have a corrupted patch install and need to reinstall the game.

Please post up the contents of your system_log.txt for more information.
