A Warhammer 40k Movie - Ideas?

Well I've been a big fan of 40k for awhile, not into the table top game that stuff is a little loserish for my tastes but I played Dawn of War one day, realised how ultimately insanely badass it was and went to a Books-A-Million and bought a few of the novels.

Anyways, the first thing that struck me was how cinematic this stuff is. Hell it's way better than Star Wars, much better background story, much more believable. The only thing I want is the early years leading up to the Imperium of Man. You know like before the 41st millenia, explaining what happened to Earth.

But it's still screaming for a movie. Now that Star Wars is done with and most likely Lord of the Rings, these huge budget fantasy/sci-fi movies could be in danger of dying. Also .. better opportunities can be made with them. Seeing as theres so much background stuff on 40k to go off of, instead of background stuff made after the movie (like Star Wars) lots of movies could be made without really getting boring.

You have so many themes you could explore, pure action movies (unequalled ones at that) war movies, horror movies, just all sorts of stuff.

Anyways, what is your guys ideas for a good Warhammer 40k movie?

Me personally? Everytime I see the Balrog in LOTR-FOTR I cant help but think CHAOS!

WarHammer 40k movie would be simply badassed. Like 300 IN SPACE! ON STEROIDS!. I think it should be about the Horus Heresy! The last days that the God-Emperor of Man walked amongst the mortals, ending with his epic duel with Horus, his Primarch and adopted son. Finally, we'd see the Emperor placed upon his Golden Throne to sit for all eternity! Simply epic! I'd see that. Alternatively, it could be about the life of the God-Emperor, beginning with his birth in ancient Mesopatamia, then cutting to him first coming to prominence after uniting Terra in the heat of the Age of Strife, and ending with him being placed on the Golden Throne. Either way, it should be about the God-Emperor and have the duel with Horus.

Should be the life of an Imperial Guardsman, all 15 seconds of it.

Hmmm, speaking of that anyone ever read the book 15 hours ? I thought it was amazing, and the plot would be great for a movie. Not too much mindless action, but enough to keep you on the edge of your seat. Plus a great war story.

It wasn't Mesopotamia it was Anatolia HERETIC CALL THE INQUISITION!

There is a 40K called Damnatus. It's a fan-movie (and it's German, we're not very renowned for our movies), so it probably sucks.

But that would be uberly awesome to see a 40K movie.

I think there should be a series. The first movie, I think, should depict the events leading up to the Horus Heresy (and, of course, the rebellion itself).

That would probably be the best plot builder.

I don't imagine we'll ever see a real movie coming out of GW, at least not a big budget live action one. CG perhaps though, since they did dabble with that a while back, but I can't see any major studio's really giving the backing it would need to really give the universe the attention it deserves.

I think if warhammer the game is successful we can expect a 40k game and movie :O--- a 40k warhammer game IS in the works sirs.(mmo)

I'd love that, it would be soooo bad ass it would be perfect but Dawn of war was a bit crappy for my taste the graphics looked absolutely terrible and also I play Warhammer 40K and it would just be amazing to make into a film!!

In the final battle all races should fight eachother! Just imagine that!

Everything but Orcs, OMG I hate 40k's orcs. And the video games may be awesome but nothing beats the tabletop game and painting miniatures yourself.

On topic though, I would want the movie to be this, in live action. The biggest CGI fest in the history of film making.

Its a fan made movie.

If I was going to write and direct a movie then I would probably do it slightly differently so GW fans would get a new spin.

Either the Heresy from the Imperial Army's point of view (thats Imperial Guard)

Something about the Grey Knights versus a **** off big army of Bloodthirsters

Thousand Sons vs Eldar, that could be amazing, all the intrigue, plans and sorcery of the 1kSons against the Eldar's amazing technology and intellect!

But if the Heresy was from Imperial Guard's point of view, then we wouldn't have the chance to see a cinematic depiction of the AMAZING duel between Horus and the Emperor. I think the God-Emperor should be the main character.

Ok:

First Movie: Battle against aliens, and the first signs of corruption

Second Movie: The Betrayal

Third Movie: The assault on Terra and the final battle

From the point of view of several characters, but concentrated on Horus, and a loyalist marine, with cameos from certain important characters like Sanguinius, Angron. Fulgrim, and of course the Emperor. The Emperor should NOT be a viewpoint character until the final battle, since it would basically ruin him by making him seem more "human."

Ah, but you could do a second film from the perspective of the Luna Wolves and a third from the Adeptus Custodes

Yes but why would people pay to see the same events three times? Just from different perspectives.

...Hmm...Then again, why do people pay SO MANY times to see WWII films?

Horus Heresy Trilogy

First Film:

Captain XYZ of the Imperial Army tagging along with the Iron Hands.

Second Film:

Captain Loken, basically the 3rd book he is in, where he dies

Third Film:

God-Emperor and The Custodians kicking ass and taking names in the Battle of the Emperors Palace.

SovietDoom: You can't really make the Emperor seem more "Human" due to the fact that he IS human. In fact, he rules the humans. Beyond the immortality and all the Godlike powers, he is still a man.

Thinking about it now, a movie from the viewpoint of the Emperor would be cool, but not a movie about his entire life. Not only would that be immeasurably long, but Hollywood would probaby ******* it up with a bunch of crappy, sappy, tragic romance and **** like that.
