Default Some questions about generals/family members

    Hi,
First let me say that I really enjoy this mod, it brought back my interest in the game after getting bored with it. I started playing portugal and am about 70 turns in.

The most fun part of the game for me has always been role playing the generals, mainly military leaders. One of the reasons I like the mod is because it greatly expands the variety, because of all the extra traits and ancillaries.

    Inquiries:

I was rather disappointed that, after I sent my great general's son along with him into 3 or 4 major battles (he quite actively participated in slaying the enemies), he was still 'scared of battle' (which tells that he doesn't know how to use a sword). He did not seem to have gained any (personal) experience from the fighting whatsoever, as all his traits remained the same; It has always been like that in this game, that only the leading general will be affected, but I was hoping this mod would change it.
His 'knight esquire' trait says that he can be expected to accompany true knights in their quests, exactly what he did. Now I know quite not so much about modding, so please enlighten me as to whether there is any possibility for enhancing this aspect.

Second is a short question.. can Family members' aging be edited? Making them live longer?

Thirdly, are there any mini mods that add even more variety to personalities/retinue or such of warlords? Or add something in the way of crusading?

Last thing I wonder about.. At one point when my faction leader died, the heir was quite quickly made legendary leader (in retinue). I however reloaded to some turns before it and decided to move him back to Iberia a few turns earlier than I originally did, and he never since received a great leader trait. Is there a random chance of your faction leader getting a grade in his leader skill? My first one was a decent leader.

Thanks in advance for your time

Any of you guys get the bug where you lose the entire family tree chart and its replaced by a destroyed faction's tree?

Yup, happened to me with in my Abbasid campaign... think it happened after an adopted general assumed leadership pf my faction... something tells me though that this question has been brought up before... :hmmm: but forgot if there were positive answers

Merely a humble advocate of the positively developed mod, "The Fouth Age Total War." ...
as well as a peaceful proponent of the exhaustedly developing mod, "Broken Crescent."

Yep - same problem here, it happens when you marry into another faction and the adopted general assumes command, as AMMsterz states. Frustrating bug as it goes, especially if it happens early in the game!

Regards the original poster's question I'm not entirely sure if this is correct but from my experience with the game so far, only the commander leading the battle gains the experience. So if you have two or three Generals only one of them will really gain any traits worth having.

Would very much like to know this/see this in TLR myself. There couldn't be an objection to the realism there. Hope it can be done.

I've just gone through the same thing playing as Scotland - my king was ex-communicated (by an unfortunate accident as it goes) and after a few years his traits began to rapdily spiral downhill. He eventually rebelled and took about half a dozen or so generals with him. He "incited civil war" although I didnt get to that stage. He didn't physically turn into a rebel unit but I couldnt control some of his generals - they were left garrisoned and the population starting decreasing by -40% every turn! I popped the king and the generals I did control (that were starting to be effected) into a ship, and sent them out into the north sea From there they were targetted by pirates and sank after a couple of naval battles

The King was dead, and that was the end of it (and almost the end of the game). It took a few years for my remaining generals to once again settle down, and regain their loyalty and positive traits - but it was a costly exercise! Do not upset the pope! I've not seen this before, and it was a great addition to the game.

Next release of Torn's mod will include an easier training schedule for generals/family members as Torn was dissapointed by this himself as well as I rembered correct there will be more herritage features like if you got a superb general/family member his son will be learn from his father , likewise if he were an superb governour.

remember though these are assumptions, because i am no part of Tornnights' mod team, though I remembered him written those in the past months
    Roma, Acta est Fabula
Released! version 0.9B of the mayor overhaul mod for IB2 Vandalorum
