what mod should i use?

i have recently downloaded RTR, but i'm getting bored of it. i think i liked vanilla better due to a fantasy overall look (not sure). Well, back to the main question. should i download LOTR or keep RTR in hope for a salvation in the game?

You shouldn't download LOTR if you don't really want to play with Lotr characters. I think that vanilla is a pretty good alternative, if you wan't to try that again.

Well if you like the fantasy side of games, LOTR:TW maybe what you want, vanillia is still an option to play. Everyone has diffrent taste, some people like plain old Vanilla, some like a fantsy style R:TW and some like realism in their game, so its up to you what you pick. I say give LOTR a go, and if you like it keep playing that, or go back to vanilla

I suggest Rise Of Rome, it makes Rome so much better in Rome Total Realism and adds more historic names and units.

Just remembered agood one : Blue Lotus (focused on china,india,japan,korea,mongolia and 1 bonus fnatasy faction) ), never downloaded it but .....WILL RIGHT NOW

also Terra Expugnade is a good one if you want a mod not so diferent from vanilla, and Europa Barbarorum... if you are hardcore or have plenty time, but the voices kickass.
