incredibly far fetched perhaps.
Where has all the matter come from to double the earth's size in the past 65 million years?
Why have we found hundred million year old deep see fossils if all they had then were shallow seas?
How did life begin in the sea, and how can we explain the Cambrian period, 500 million years ago, where almost all animals and all plants lived in the (non existant according to the video) oceans?
I also like how they mentioned that all ancient sea fossils have been found on land. Clearly that wouldn't be because it is basically impossible, not to mention completely unfeasible, to attempt to dig for fossils at the bottom of the ocean. No, it's obviously because they just don't exist down there.

Wait guys, slow down - wasn't this thread over after post 4?
I can make a nice YouTube video about how tiny little elves actually pushed the continents around. It's easy - don't cite my sources, show only those observations which could be manipulated to support my claim, don't even bother addressing outstanding problems and deviations with my theory, and (most importantly!) make a nice pretty animation to accompany it.
BAM. I'm a scientist.
I second that. As a geoscientist I am baffled how such a crappy video and a horrible theory can win the hearts of the lay people... Welll, this expanding earth theory does not make any sense. For starters we have rock dating that proves that the earth is at least 4 bilions old. More rock dating also proves that through Earth's history there were numerous occasions where all continents where welded together, not only during the formation of Pangea... For instance, the present day appalachians were created about 1 billion years ago and where actually part of another huge supercontinent called Rodinia. The appallachian mountains are actually the same age as some fold belts (aka, mountain chains) in western Brazil... ( a reconstruction can be seen here http://www.ig.utexas.edu/research/pr...fc533d9825b3d0)
. I would like to see this crappy theory explain that... Formation of supercontinents is like an almost perpetual movement of welding and breaking up of continental masses... If there is no subducction as this guy proposes how does he explains mountain building? I would like to hear that! The flaws of this theory are obscene... Have he ever heard of gravity? If the earth's mass is increasing somehow how come the Earth's orbit has been the same since the planet's creation? Well I think this expanding earth theory simply does not hold together...

There are two things which cannot be attacked in front: ignorance and narrow-mindedness. They can only be shaken by the simple development of the contrary qualities. They will not bear discussion. ---- Lord Acton
Awesome, it's matter creation! Me wants!
I saw this about a month or so ago. Entertaining. I'm no scientist, so it's validity isn't mine to judge, but it was entertaining.

On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Would be great if someone could do a good Terrain Generation Algorithm based on that.
I'm really impressed at what professional looking results you can get with You Tube. The projection of animation onto globe is so lovely to watch that you never get around to asking why the continents are twisting like that.
As far as I understand, subduction is not a controversial topic. It certainly accurately explains volcanic and earthquake activity along the pacific coast of the Americas.
The narrator is quite correct that sea floor plate is younger than continental plate. It is created at the spreading sea-floor ridges, and subsequently disappears in subduction areas.
Sea water apparently acts as a lubricant at the subduction region. I recently saw a documentary (or was it a brainwashing indoctrination video?) on the subject. It included a geologist finding evidence of sea-water in the chemical makeup of volcanic rocks in Chile. It also included a long segment about the movement of the Alaskan coast after earthquakes. It demonstrated that the coast had risen (clearly shown by the line of beached barnacles), while a region inland had fallen- the total effect being similar to the rucking of a blanket when you slide something underneath. On the coast a terracing effect could be discerned, showing this to be a regular occurrence.
Anyway - you may have caught on that I am fairly satisfied with plate tectonics theory and think the You Tube video is bunkem. Nevertheless it was fun to watch and not too offensive.
The Answer to the Question
So - is the Earth getting bigger? As luck would have it I have the definitive answer from my favourite web-site...

Do check it out because you are in for a veritable feast of practical(?) information about every world-shaking topic imaginable (and some I still have difficulty imagining even after they are fully explained).![]()
******** he clearly doesnt understand the facts behind plate tectonics and the formation of our moon ( the world was smaller but then we got hit by a planetoid thera or morpheus)-- but this guy is a dumbass. plates dont drift about willynilly like on a buttered ****ing pan, I hope this idiot swallows his own ass.
LMAO! That's absolutely bollocks, it's just a joke I think lol. He obviously has no knowledge of geological sciences, which I do so I could go on but I won't because it's nt even worth it lol.

Sib, you're not actually taken in by that stuff. The idiot that made that film is a conspiracy theorist, and a comic book artist. He has no background at all in science what-so-ever (which is clear from the movie). He believes the earth is HOLLOW for Christ's sake! The guy's a nut job. The earth did grow though, as was said, it grew thanks to the billions of collisions it has had with space objects as well as the collision it had with a mars size planet that created the moon.

im pretty sure siblez didnt believe it and posted for entertainment.
Its one of the old classic things of this type that take 1 piece of evidence and twist to what they want and forget everything else that is completely inexplicable by their theory. And I love the every planet is like earth or earth must be unique assumption![]()

Where did all the water go?
sir seriously research plate tectonics-- its a simple and very easy to understand science.
you do realise that the crust of the earth is a very thin sheet of rock comparitively and that the plates subduct and re melt and reform at the expulsion zones--- this guy is full of ****, I wont call him an idiot but his theory is self explanatory.
pure ********.
the beauty of science is that its largely public info-- scientists dont care about changing everything, because given proper evidence It Does change.--- science is observable repeatable experimentab;e(even a word?) and self evident.
