Dungeon Siege: The movie/ Any good Game to Movie adapatations?

Thoughts

The Game I thought was pretty cool and loved the simplicity of it. However translating into a movie may be a tricky but still it has quite a bit of potential.

The only problem ( actually there are several) I have with the movie:

1. It looks too similar to Eragon which is really bad. Also this genre has been done plenty of times all ready: Orcs, Kings, magic, heroes. Give us something new.

2. Uwe Bowell is directing it. Pretty much says it all right there.

3. The Trailer looks very bad and granted the guy looks like he'll fit the role if this is the movie be prepared for a pile of Crap.

What's your take on this? And has there been any really good Game to Movie adaptations ever?

Just about everything you said, plus all of the main stars are too modern for such an ancient setting, imo.

Eragon the book was awesome, but the movie was a terrible walking pile of pure ****. I wasted 30 mins on it, holding back my frustration. Out of 10, I give it a negative 25! That's how much it sucked. And Uwe Boll? All of his movies suck, I'd rather suck on a urinal puck than watch them.

Whew, glad I got that out. This Dungeon Siege adaptation better be good.

For the love of god how does Boll keep getting jobs?! Its almost bizarre he keeps getting jobs and its always video games to movies...next up Postal, Bloodrayne 2, Far Cry and god help us Alone in the Dark 2. He must be stopped somehow, maybe a UN resolution or assassination or something.

As far as Dungeon Siege goes, Burt Reynolds as king?! I feel back for Statham. First Hitler then Boll, the lengths of German cruelty knows no boundary.

I think it was stated in another Uwe Boll thread that the reason he keeps getting money to make ****** movies is because of german tax system or something like that.

Very funny.

I have only seen one Boll movie and that was Bloodrayne.
Story was crap, acting was crap, the fight scenes were not done properly(hell the actors could hardly swing their weapons, it's like someone gave it to them on the spot), had a pointless sex scene and bad special effects and what is worse is that at the end of the movie you get to see all the deaths in slow-motions, so you can actually see how bad it looks.
What is worse is that he keeps getting good actors too, how on earth does he get them ??

And even if I did I would still consider it a pointless sex scene.

pretty much guaranteed to suck ass, and there was a trailer released a very long time ago, and was removed because it sucked so badly thats saying something

Somehow he is still employed, Uwe Boll making movies is proof there is no god.

Did I see Ron Pearlman in that trailer? ... *scrambles over to IMDB* ... It was Ron Pearlman!

The movie features an all star cast (I'm not talking about just Ron Pearlman here) which would be a definate plus, but these all-stars aren't exactly exclusive to good film-making, more's the pity.

I'll probably watch it on Showtime, just for Claire Forlani and Pearlman. But the trailer looks like fecal matter.

Now that I'm looking at the Ethos forum, in the "Does anyone deserve to be tortured" thread, I think I'll make an exception for Uwe...

Uwe Boll is sooo unintentionally funny, I'm waiting for that movie just to laugh my ass off.

Search for Hitman movie script review. It has the potential to be the best game to film adaptation.
