    Default some/many suggestions about royalty and bloodline

    As far as I know who becomes heir is hardcoded, though I was wondering...

    for example lets take denmark: if one of your daughters from your monarch marries a proposed suitable prince he gets the trait royal ties. Though never the trait of danish blood even when in Denmarks homelands.

    suggestion 1 could that trait be added to potential suitors

    Further, well I am gonna be feminist on this part. the royal bloodline always descents through the princes not the princesses. For instance [and don't flame me for the incest] When my princess marries a cousin he does not become a prince but he only receives the trait royal ties.

    suggestion 2 is it possible to make in this case the cousin a son of the monarch [and a prince] and continue the bloodline instead of the princess become part of an obscure part of the family?

    To continue this suggestion is it possibleto have the trait for all your monarchs sons to be prince?

    Fourth suggestion: If for some reason your royal bloodline died out [for instance by plague or battles] is it possible to create a new bloodline? and make the new monarch of an obscure part of the family become again a founder of a royal dynasty?

    Fifth suggestion the longer the royal bloodline dynesty the bigger the authority trait, of coarse only if the fourth suggestion could be implemented

    Sixth suggestion to counter all these increase in loyalty to bring back some sort of civil uprising or civil war? In all my campaigns I have too many family members who have almost zero tolerance to the government though it has no effect at all.

    Off coarse this is my personal opinion to increase this game into more RPG, feel free to comment

    well, I found that for the royal blood line to work fine I did two adjustments,
    make adulthood age 14, and old age 70 instead of 60 ( if I remember right), this way as I read somewhere in this forums allows at least 3-4 generations at once.

    Apparently what happens is, that a character will become heir much more consistently if their grandfather is alive.... donīt ask me why... I just read it recently.

    I have tryed this in several campaigns now and seems to work a treat.

    About all the changes and additions you propose Torn will for sure look at them and if they fit with the work he is doing I am sure he will implement it.

    finally I have found the appropiate file to make the adjustments. And well as comparing my own experience with TLR wiki I found out that my version was 1.9.11 or something instead of 2.0. Had to reinstall everything and losing all my save games from DLV Darthmod SS TLR and LTC

    So some of my comments may be outdated.

    So maybe another suggestion to add the version on the splash screen?

    Probably Torn never read this one though I congrat him on his second child, so many things are more important than this game. Though I am glad that I am not the only one here who have left the teenage years decades ago

    a bit sentimental and talking to myself .....

    I found the heir thing working quite well in this mod. Though I haven't played it for too long yet, so I can't say anything about room for improvement.
    It seems to me that heir-appoitning is fixed, as non blood relatives get heir presumptive and as soon as a real heir is old enough he becomes the new one.
    I like how I married a dude of sicilian blood to a princess of Moorish blood, and their son became both sicilian blooded and Moorish related. (Though the illegitimate son thing was a bit weird).

    Question: Where do you edit the coming of age age/ dying age?

    Great thread. I second, what files do you modify to change heir age and age?

    <I found that for the royal blood line to work fine I did two adjustments,

    the file is:

    descr_campaign_db.xml

    look for this:

    <family_tree>
    <max_age uint="90"/>
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_male uint="60"/>
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_female uint="45"/>
    <max_age_before_death uint="105"/>
    <max_age_of_child uint="10"/>
    <old_age uint="70"/>
    <age_of_manhood uint="14"/>
    <daughters_age_of_consent uint="14"/>
    <daughters_retirement_age uint="45"/>
    <age_difference_min int="-10"/>
    <age_difference_max int="30"/>
    <parent_to_child_min_age_diff uint="12"/>
    <min_adoption_age uint="14"/>
    <max_adoption_age uint="30"/>
    <max_age_for_conception uint="50"/>
    <age_of_manhood_close uint="14"/>
    <max_number_of_children uint="4"/>
    </family_tree>

    As you can see in my example I increased old age and adulthood age.... this technique seems to work best after a few kings. As far as I figured out to someone become a heir must be into manhood. So this means three generations must be alive such as:

    king -- > heir --> future heir.

    This way when the king dies the future heir can ascend to his new title.

    @ ace thanks alot with my new Novgorod campaign I got so much balancing in my family. As well I made some adjustments so no longer some 60 year old ask the hand from one of my daughters. Also dropped the rate for conception and decreased the adoption probabilties. And since they do not become of my countries blood I will keep these changes

    just remember not to increase this:

    <max_number_of_children uint="4"/>

    more than 4 as I believe it becomes buggy

    I wonder now i have played 3 new campaigns with these settings and 2 outta 3 has no sons only dozens of daughters so my royal bloodline ends after 3 generations. Does anyone else has this experience of daughters only?

    and my second issue, since I alterd the old age to 70 I have also a huge problem with my family getting married and as well having children. Current situation from my fourth campaign of Polski. I have 14 provinces 4 male and 3 female royal members no generals. 2 of 4 males i have givvena wife through almost incest relations though no one is asked for marriage or have children. Is this an hardcoded bug? Please share your experiences with this issue?

    Did you try changing "<age_difference_min int="-10"/> <age_difference_max int="20"/>" to be something like -5 and 5? My Fatimid camapign is just fine on family members (have 37, 32 excluding recruited generals with only 28 provinces) and I always noticed that the closer the two people's ages are the more likely they are to have a kid.

    @ freedom i have tried that in another campaign though for me unfortunately it didn't work because my family members got no females to marry with ....

    and since this is some sort of historical game to remain single was not an option in these times. So I still wonder if i encountered a hardcoded bug?

    I modded my TLR with this feature, along with others, and my version was very unstable. I'm not sure if this was the culprit, or if I had a bad install. Since reinstalling the game several times, I now have a stable game, and I have reapplied all my changes except this one. Does anyone else find that changing the Coming of Age to 14, Old Age to 70, as this thread suggests, creates a buggy game? If not, I'll chalk it up to a bad install, and I'll use this again. You gotta love ascension working properly!
