Upgrade question

Here are my current specs

Amd Athlon64 3500+
1 gb Dual channel pc3200 ram (Timings 3,8,3,3)
7600 gt pcie
nforce4 socket 939 motherboard.

Right then..................this works the game lovely at 1024 by 768 with aniso x4 and high settings.

The question is.........i want to keep the same resolution but i am wondering if my system would benefit more from removing the 1gb ram and replacing it with lower latency ram in dual channel at 2gb

OR............

Moving to a 8600gt and keeping the rest of the comp the same.

Yes i know that the x1950pro is better , but i am always worried that my 500w power supply which although having 30amps on the 12v rail would be upto the job.
It doesn't have 2 12v rails just the one.

So better ram at 2GB + 7600gt

or 1GB + 8600gt
or 1GB + X1950 pro if you think that the power supply is upto the job.
