Default [Citizen - Failed 3:7] Ferrets54 (Patron: Ozymandias)

Ferrets54
Client ParagraphHello,
Once again I have the opportunity to write a paragraph to be considered to become a citizen again. I will keep this brief since there is no real reason to sell myself or explain who I am or promise what I will do. I am ferrets54, for better or worse, but I think for the most part better. In the future I shall be the same passionate, outspoken and honest forum libertine that I tend to be, with more style and less ham-fisted indiscretion than the likes of Prof420. I do hope that of my recent posts of the past few weeks those considered will include those in the games and history forum along with my more strong-willed mudpit posts because I think that I do well for myself there. As always, thanks for the consideration.

Patronal ParagraphAs with Ferrets' paragraph, I shall keep this brief. Ferrets is an incredibly intelligent and highly active member of the site, who contributes with outstanding posts. Whilst his style is polemic and has in the past got him in trouble, this comes from an understandable intolerance for what he views as moronity; as someone who often came into conflict with him while a moderator, I personally was impressed even by posts I handed him warnings for. Now for post examples; of his about 50 posts today (active, see?) here's 3 examples of excellent posting which rapidly jump out at me. While not essays, they get his point across very well in each case.

Usernotes: None active; 16 total, 3 total since his last return, 2 for flaming (one warn, one caution) and 1 caution for disruptive posting. None since the warn.

A truely outstanding and dedicated member, intelligent with sharp wit and good grasp on events. a damn good choice for citizen, especially if he can keep his contempt for stupidity in check, which he seems to be doing of late.

Is ferrets willing to admit that he isn't a citizen then in the first place and that he was wrong about his "illegal" Ostrakon?

Unless that is resolved, I will have to vote no. I will not vote yes for someone who already considers himself a citizen.

To quote his paragraph, "to become a citizen again". The implications are, I feel, clear. He has also stated to me that whilst he does not consider the original Siblesz ostrakon legal, he does not at present consider himself to be a citizen.

Given his lengthy and longstanding discourse regarding this issue, an implicit statement will not be enough. Note, I do not require that it be publicly uttered in the Q&A or any such nonsense but I do want a clear and explicit statement for the CdC.

I like Ferrets54 as a member. He is funny, intelligent, and involved in much discussion...but he has so much bad history behind him that I don't see him keeping his rank for any considerable amount of time. I don't think that he really cares for the rank, at least in the right way. For the longest time he has been against the CVRIA and everything it stands for (I am not a huge fan of everything in the CVRIA but at least I've always respected it) and yet he always seems to want to be what he has been against. I don't know why. I don't really care personally. This is just an internet forum, but for the sake of this internet forum and what it represents I do care. He says,
I will keep this brief since there is no real reason to sell myself or explain who I am or promise what I will do.
Well, I'm sorry Ferrets54. I need some sort of a promise from a member like you who has such a tumultuous history and complete disregard for the rank you wish to gain through this vote represents and what body you will be able to be active in if you gain such.

Such a promise/statement/whatever just got made; to directly quote Ferrets,
I state I have not always behaved in the past in the manner that citizens should but have been for a long time and will continue to do so

So he says,
there is no real reason to sell myself or explain who I am or promise what I will do
and then says,
I state I have not always behaved in the past in the manner that citizens should but have been for a long time and will continue to do so
So he does what he says he will not do. I am being harsh on Ferrets54 but that is what I mean to do. It is not like we're deciding on a brand new member up for consideration. In order for me to consider him seriously I will need for him to do some serious explaining of how he is worthy of promotion and some serious promises that he won't just act like he has too many times in the past.

The reason he stated the last part is that he was asked for such a statement, in effect, by the CdeC.

I will have to think about this more, perhaps after Ferrets54 gives us more detail, if he decides to do so.

And for the actual question; has policy about patrons defending their nominees changed, as in the past we had some sort of agreement not to use our special position inside the CdeC for that, as other patrons can't do that either.

I think if a question is raised and an answer can be given, then it is rather foolhardy not to hear that answer, surely.

There is nothing stopping a CDC Member contacting the prospective patron/client for further clarification and then posting the response here. At the end of the day, everyone should want a fair and equitable decision.

its not so much a patron defending a nominee, as a patron answering questions asked by the CdeC. nothing prevents the CdeC PMing questions to patron or nominee should the patron not be able to answer them directly. If questions are to be asked about matters concerning a nominee i think it is important that they be answered, otherwise clearly, you would not be able to make an informed decision.

Rag; I'm going to state clearly and openly what I did. I posed to Ferrets the questions asked of him here, in order to assuage concerns raised; if another nominee was to have like questions raised, I'd PM the nominee in like manner. I intend to take no further part in the thread than that

He has been cautioned within the last two months, and is just sliding out of the 3 month zone with warnings. I don't know... I've always like Ferrets, but following the rules is something I value very highly in a civitate... and I'm not sure Ferret is going to do so. Ferrets has always broken the rules with regularity and without remorse... and while better behaved in his present stint, it hasn't been some remarkable turn around with Ferrets being a bastion of rule abiding posting. At this point, no.

Some people here confuse the "political history" of ferrets (famine, refugee, deportation in the East) and his actual potential. The potential I see is for snyde one liners and for clever offences.

And I have not seen one cohesive argument in all his sparring elan.

Not yet.
