    Default Barbarian Chosen Warlord

In my games as Barbarian factioins I never manage to improve my Warlord's Bodyguards, even when I get to retrain them in my Minor Cities. With the Romans, I automatically get a better bodyguard as soon as I build my first Imperial Palace and Marian reforms come, but this is not the case with barbarians. Am I missing something?
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."

The High King's Hall description says "Improved General Bodyguards" but I still don't get them. Maybe by building higher level stables? Yet this might be an in-game bug.

Minor city is the highest city level barbarians can reach in RTW.

There you are, I build the High King's Hall, retrain my generals there and still don't get improved bodyguards .

Basically, if you go and kill Rome quickly with Barbarians like I normally do, you cant get them.
On the contrary, by the time you conquer Rome, it will be bigger than a minor city.

I believe the Chosen Warlord along with all other upgraded bodyguards are tied to the Marian reforms at least that's been the case in my games.

I thought it was when the Romans got the Marian reforms you would get better bodygaurds. Worked in my Carthage Campaign.

Yes, that's the case. No building upgrades required.

Ive always got Rome before its a huge city with Gaul...

Normally when its still minor, you just need all your generals, 6 Barbarian cav, and rest swords, all with ups from the war temple and a blacksmith.
