What happens when you click on the shortcut?

the little black box apears (cmd) for a split second, then it closes and nothing happens.
Hmm, can you explain exactly how you went about installing the mod? For example, did the dos window remain open for approx. 12 minutes?

Judging by your comments it seems you did not follow the instructions. If that is so then - as we state - you may need to start over with a complete removal of rtw from your system and reinstall.

That's most likely your problem. You should have installed into:btw would installing it into the bi folder matter? i havent install it into the wrong place have i?
or (if you have Gold):Code:C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War
The above path may be a little different depending on your RTW install.Code:C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War

We can help you a lot more if you don't misrepresent what you did. To say you followed the instructions to the letter and then in the same breath say that you installed into the bi folder and used our 1.6 before 1.9 in a cumulative patch series (or installed it the 1.6 sega patch over the mod - if that is what you meant) shows that you did not follow the instructions.

Hi, can not get my game started. Hope you can help me too.
After installing I get this message.
script error in bi\ci/data/settlement_plans/barbarian_large_city.txt, at line 6, column 14.
file data/settlement_plans/underlays/../../../bi/data/settlement_plans/underlays/barbarian_large_city_underlay CAS does not exist.
Please tell us what you did - it has obviously been installed incorrectly.

Hi MasterOfNone, I directed the 2.0 exe to my folder "Rome - Total War BI 1.6 TFA2.0" where I have a copy of an unmodded BI 1.6 version. It created a ci folder inside my bi folder. Then I did the same with the 2 patches. NOT directing them to the ci folder. The second patch didn't give a dosbox the first one did. I have found a tns_2_1_patch.bat
You have of course copied the whole of the RTW folder over to your new instance of the game and not just the bi part of it? In other words you copied the "Rome Total War" folder to another folder on the same level under "Activision" (or Creative Assemby if you have Gold)?
The file in question in your error is not a modded file. As you know, large and huge barbarian cities did not exist in RTW so this file exists in BI to reference the correct models.
The pathing works like this:
in RTW there is no pathing in the city files but it is set as default (invisible) to data/settlement_plans/underlay
To overcome this pathing the BI version for the larger cities for Barbarians repaths the new models (in the bi/data/settlement_plans/underlays/ folder) thus;
../../../bi/data/settlement_plans/underlays/barbarian_large_city_underlay.CAS
The first bit (../../../) takes the pathing up levels from the default; so it comes out of underlays, out of settlement plans and then out of data back to the RTW folder (with the BI and RTW exe in it)
Then the new path takes it down to the bi/data/settlement_plans/underlays/ folder.
The conclusion then is that either the text file (or modfolder) is in the wrong place or the model file does not exist in your BI folder. The latter is unlikely if it is unmodded.
EDIT: I've only ever seen your error with manual installations where the player has cut the files from the BI folder rather than copied them. I cannot see how this can happen when you have used the installer and batch file; try running the BI exe direct to see if the BI folder is working.

Hi MasterOfNone, thank you for your explication and time.
Made me look at the content of my folder with a fresh look andI had copied the wrong folder with already a mod inside.

So everything works as it's supposed to work and it's looking really good.![]()
Glad it is sorted, and thank you for not opening your query with "I followed the installation instructions to the letter"
Perhaps you could tell us if any confusion in the instructions led to your error so that we can avoid this in the future?
Enjoy the game.

Hi MasterOfNone,
No confusion in the instuctions for what I can tell. It was a mistake on my side.
I thought I used a clean copy of RTW BI with patch version 1.6 and in fact I didn't.
I re-installed RTW BI 1.6 install New Shadow Dos was running longer almost 4 min .Still it won't start .I think Dos was promting me to type something at the end but I didn't

The dos should not prompt for any user action if installing to the correct path in a clean version of BI 1.6
Why did you make a new copy of the ci folder? This is not in the instructions. All you have to do is make sure there is no ci folder from any previous version.
That is certainly the reason why the dos is prompting you - your installation is not clean.
Please follow the instructions more carefully.
And please let me know if you feel the instructions unclear.
