After playing out the campaign as Germans, I decided to rest a bit and play some custom battles. What I found out is that some heavy units are too strong for their price. A nice example is the Foot Druzhina of Kievan Rus. They are my most favorite unit, but I didn't want them to beat almost everything! They strike so much fear into the enemy, that 2 seconds after they engage, the enemy routs. Did some tests with a full Foot Druzhina army, and I've beaten a whole army of Viking Warriors and Huskarls, with only five losses! The only units that can match them are the Tagma Ton Varangion of the Byzantines, Albid al Shira of the Moors and the Teutonic foot knights. Does anyone know a better strategy to counter the Foot Druzhina's hail of arrows, followed by superior swordattacks?
Also, Cavalry such as knights are being ripped apart by heavy infantry. I know that heavy infantry, deployed in tight walls of flesh and iron, are hard to break trough, but heavy cavalry, charging with long lances can at least break trough the first 2 ranks! I don't care that after the charge, knights are being eaten for breakfast, I just want them to make a hole in heavy infantry, so that they can turn the tide of battle if you have for example very light infantry facing heavy city militia or such.![]()
