Icon8 Impossible Names to Cheat with

Ok so like many other people, sometimes the normal game gets boring, and I like to give traits to make it more interesting. However, I have one serious problem. So many of my characters "can't be found". Give suggestions on how to take such a name Teresa el Valiente (one of the first spanish princesses). Here is what doesn't work.

    Teresa el Valiente

    Teresa_el_Valiente

    Teresa_el Valiente

    Teresa el_Valiente

    So I don't know I'm stumped. I seek guidance!

Perhaps it's not her real name?

Sometimes characters get random titles added to their names, like 'of Cordoba' or 'The Chivalrous' depending on their traits or place of birth. Because of this, their true last name is masked, making it hard to use cheats on faction heirs and leaders when you have no idea what their real name was.

Check her family tree to see what the probable last name is.

If that doesn't work, or if the last name is in fact 'el Valiente', than I'm stumped too. I can't get the cheats involving names to work in these situations.

Select the character and use "this" for their name.

Works for the _trait and _ancillary commands. Doesn't for the move_character I think.

Don't know if it works with any other commands. I use it a fair amount to get rid of Secret Loves and Pagan magicians. I've got horrible luck with those, getting waaayyyyyyy more than the file suggests I should. I wish I could use an assassin though. I imagine more than a few nobles arranged "accidents" for their daughters' lovers prior to a wedding.

Edit: Using "this" doesn't work on another faction's characters. For those you have to use their full name. I think only England, France, & the HRE lack official surnames, though you can check in the descr_strat file for any others.

Pagan magicians lol. I had a major noob moment with those, and grouped a priest with the generals that had it thinking the priest could kill it.

I actually think the trigger is messed up for the Magicians. It reacts to a region's % of heretics instead of pagans I believe.

Oh well, I can type "remove_ancillary this magician_pagan" easily enough.

Last I checked, the trigger was for % not your religion

I'm pretty sure move_character works in most cases, too

So what your saying is give_trait this FertileWoman 3?

Yes, as long as the character is seletected at the time (has the little green circle around her feet).

If used on a stack with more than 1 general it will give the traits/ancillaries to the commanding general.

Yes, this is excellent help JMonroe. Thanks (shame though the character_reset doesn't work this way. I love taking a random general and building watchtowers on every spot of fog of war in my territories in one turn).

Looked it up to see what the % chance to get a pagan magician was.

    and PopulationOwnReligion < 90
    and PopulationHeretic >= 10
and not Trait Superstitious > 0

5% chance if less than 90% your religion and at least 10% Heretic. I don't follow the last one so well, I guess magicians are scary to superstitious people.

I must have bad luck at any rate, I seem to get them way more often then the trigger would imply.

And I just retested it, "move_character this 150,88" isn't working for me, still getting the "character not found" message. However, "move_character Solomon 150,88" works fine. Can't move my own diplomat around but I can still send heretics to the pope's doorstep.

The last line indicates that a character with the 'Superstitious' trait cannot get a pagan magician ancillery.

Gathered that, but I was just thinking it should work the other way around. Superstitious people would be more likely to want a magician on their side. But then, I don't know anything about superstitious people or magicians, so...

The first one is correct for this character but it does vary.

Syntax is - give_trait "Teresa el Valiente" GoodPrincess 5

I see, the Quotation marks around the character's name are needed for it to work. I didn't even think to try that, mainly since it works without the quotes for single named characters.

Thanks for the clarification on that BTA, I think that's something a lot of people didn't realize.

Darn you BTA you beat me to it

When I saw how he wrote them a second ago I wondered if he used them

Although sometimes it works when you use; give_trait "Teresa el_Valiente" GoodPrincess 5

So either works, for me at least.

    Try this -

Click on the princess, tell her to move to any land tile outside of a city, then type in the console this
    give_trait this GoodPrincess 5

That will work, it's just characters with two names dont seem to like you cheating in M2TW (unless they're in your faction where you can use the above cheat)

My days in RTW of giving my enemy generals Arse 5, Trusting 3 and LaxPersonalSecurity 3 to make them easier to assassinate are all over

Read up - thats already been stated.
give_trait & remove_trait work on multiple character names - I do it all the time because IMHO traits suck

Why? give_trait & remove_trait still works for NPC characters, if you get the name right

All you have to do is move the cursor over them, and type their name in for the cheat.
