    Default SS / DLV

    Hello,

First and foremost let me state that in no way is this a "my mod is better than your mod" thread.

I have played most mods for M2TW, except SS.

I read the FAQ, but it really didn't tell me much about this mod.

So my question is, what is the difference between the two?

Please answer only if you have played both.

In my opinion, the two mods should be merged. SS has better new units like Aragon and their Keiv has better units. DLV has better traits and better character progression. I really wish the two mods would come together under one roof as I like aspects of each but together they would be the best.

IMHO DLV for me because I cant live without Tuetonic Order and dont like some of SS4.0 traits

The Inquisitor has pretty much nailed it. DLV is a slower progression game, where u REALLY have to manage ur economy, but has a great Anc and rank system. SS is (in my opinion) much more exciting to play due to units and factions. Personally I merge the traits and ancs from DLV into SS it works great, but it cant be openly posted due to permissions.

hmmm. i love the rp aspect of these games, so I guess I would be more satisfied with DLV.

I always hear great things about SS, and had to see what the fuss was about.

DLV, is buggy in my experience. SS is stable. DLV has great role playing aspects which sets it apart. A merger has been declined by Repman despite many requests including mine.

Scivian, it isnt to difficult to merge them, just copy the sections from the anc and triat files, they are all nicely titled so you can find te sections within the file. Tokus told me it was okay to do as long as it wasnt released, and it was kept as a personal mod

Pm me if you want any info

Was there any reason given for a declined merger? Rep uses an assload of mods in his mod why cant he use SS as well?

They have completely different playstyles and idea's really. I'd go so far as to call DLV and SS total conversions, rather than simply mods.

Both KK and Repman have their own visions for their work and that must be respected. For example, KK chose to have DarthMod in SS, Repman chose to have UBAI/RC. That one difference alone significantly changes the way the game plays. Neither are right, neither are wrong. Its all personal preference.

DLV's new factions are cloned, and SS's are brand new. DLV have lots of crashes while SS have less, DLV however is a little bit better than SS at traits and ancillary, why little? Because BBB has been added into SS during 4.0, also DLV is laggy and they require passwords for hotseat mode which just kills my fun. Don't get me wrong, DLV is a great mod, then again, IMO, there is no better mod for MTWII out there right now other than BC, which hasn't been officially released yet

PS: just in case your wondering? I have personally tried both, especially SS, but i have full experience of DLV.

+rep for me if you agree with me , i might give it right back to you

I've played DLV limited and SS extensively. I completely agree with above that DLV's new factions are almost exclusively cloned and recolored however DLV does have alot of nice touches on the campaign side. I spend most of my time on the campaign map even so I still prefer SS.

Stainless Steel is the best mod I've tried so far, and highly polished. Also definitely looking forward to broken crescent : D

*dreams of a Broken Crescent, SS and DLV mega-lo-merger*

of course then i would have no 'real life'. but if that happened, why would i want one?

I noticed a certain byzantine cavalry is buggered up in DLV which seemed to be the cause of over 3/4 of my CTD's, SS also seems to get CTD's every so often and its really off putting. I admit a version or 2 back in SS, i got excited as i played knight templars, i had a huge adrenaline rush from the flood of muslim armies coming at me and yet i manage to survive the chaos, even the siege defence was great fun. i wish i had the screenshots to show you guys
