Ok, I just ordered myself a new monitor and I was curious as to what other member's have.
Is a monitor such as this really a luxury item? Or more common amongst gamers than people are led to believe.
I'm just curious.

I have a Dell 30" (3007WFP-HC) and it's huge. Duals for my gaming monitor as well as the family tv. It's a bit pricey but well worth IMO. 20"-24" have come down so much in price that I don't think they are really a luxury item anymore TBO.
I looked at the Dell 30", but I didn't want to spend ~$2000 on a monitor, mostly because I think you can go too big.
I was going to get the Dell 27" for $1400 but they had ran out of stock, and the deal for it ends tomorrow. (It was $400 off).
So I looked at the Dell 24", done some reading, and reviews recommended the Ben-Q, which was also cheaper.
How far away do you sit when you are on the computer? The distance I sit away means that 24" widescreen will fill my vision field, do you have to turn your head to the screen edges?
Sceptre 20.1"
Crap brand and not too big but the right price.

Well in the US the 30" is less than $1300 right now if I'm not mistaken. My face is about 3-4 feet from it so I don't have to look side to side. I would say the 27" would be perfect, but I'm happy with the 30" for videos and multitasking.
Sceptre aren't that bad, they are a budget monitor and they actually look fairly nice. Many people I know own them as a second or third monitor.
Im a big fan of BenQ, so nice choice on brand. Also Dell makes some real nice LCD monitors. I still have a 17" Dell LCD in its fifth year and its as nice as the day I bought it, not one dead pixel after 5 years.
Currently my main monitor is the 19" Viewsonic vx922
Just got a 22" Widescreen Acer.
Mmm, so awesome. 5ms

19" CRT Iiyama Vision master pro max resolution 1920 x1440
Stick that in your 1080p HD pipe and smoke it!
Last week I almost bought a 47" Westinghouse LCD 1080p @8ms for $850. The current prices are just ridiculous and they sold out before I could grab one. They are now on backorder so when I see them again Ill post the link.
A bit too large for gaming but a nice bedroom TV.

An Acer 17" LCD AL1711, 16ms. Quite bad actually...
I'm thinking of getting a 22" widescreen in August though... that or a regular 19" one. Any suggestions? I read that widescreens do work well with games. (Resolution would be 1650x1050 I think. Price is 300-400€).
A 19" widescreen. The resolution for 19" is 1440x900, and yes It works very well with games.
21" CRT. I have it at 1600x1200. It cost 40 quid. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, LCD screen Nazi's!

@Sidus: One dead pixel not covered in the warranty?
