I remember seeing soldiers cheer when they conquered the town in medieval 2 total war.
In Rome total war , somehow the soldiers don't cheer when they achieve victory. Is this normal?

They occasionally cheered after a victory. But normally they do not.
Cordially, Lord Romaus III
Cheering is the norm in my experience with RTW.
Soldiers, cavalry in particular, can also celebrate during a battle. Quite often Ive asked a unit to move after they have beaten an enemy unit only to find they delay as they are too busy celebrating.

My experience says units will cheer after completely wiping out an enemy, and some barbarian units will taunt after a warcry or when the enemy is nearby. Some barbarian warriors can also delay their charge just to taunt, thus getting behind the rest of their unit.
"Romans not only easily conquered those who fought by cutting, but mocked them too. For the cut, even delivered with force, frequently does not kill, when the vital parts are protected by equipment and bone. On the contrary, a point brought to bear is fatal at two inches; for it is necessary that whatever vital parts it penetrates, it is immersed. Next, when a cut is delivered, the right arm and flank are exposed. However, the point is delivered with the cover of the body and wounds the enemy before he sees it."
- Flavius Vegetius Renatus (in Epitoma Rei Militari, ca. 390)

I really think they only cheer when the complete annihilated a enemy that's why most of my soldiers cheer at a siege because most of the time i completely wipe out the enemy..
To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence;
supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.
I have the original version of rome total war and the soldiers don't cheer no matter what.
Which desc file should i edit to enable cheering?
I've always wondered about this too. Sometimes my guys will cheer - sometimes they won't. I wonder if the criteria for a celebration is random or not.
