The World War 3 Thread. Russia Vs 'The West'

Before we get ahead of ourselves, what would the allies, and axis be for each side? Taking into account the entire world, so the Asians would get into it, not just the Europeanors.

ummmmm The West & allies - Europe, Australia & N.America (except Mexico)

Russia & allies - Asia & Africa

Pretty much ... and i guess no1 would win ... cuz a nuclear winter is not a pleasant thing.

One side has money ... one side has manpower !!!

I dont think even a guy like Putin would ever use nukes.

There is the snag of mutual aggression -- each country knows if they fire nukes, the other country will be able to fire nukes back before they are hit, so its lose/lose basically. Therefore, if we have relatively smart (and not suicidal) leaders, a war would be fought conventionally due to mutual aggression. In theory, of course.

I think WW3 might be a very chess like endeavor. The taking, and re-taking of small countries. Economic warfare. Assasinations. The playing of allies against each other.

Everybody worried whether one side would snap, and launch an all out invasion of the others country.

Kind of like The Cold War on steroids.

the west could drive the others back, but not conquer them themselves. Africa and Asia are far too large. And wouldnt south america side with the west?

I just can't see a larger scale world war 3 being fought. Theres just too much of a threat of nuclear war. Which I just can't see any sane leader willing to allow. Even with mutual aggression eventually as one side of the war starts to lose, it will start to think of using nuclear weapons. More than likely any war between the super powers of the west and east would be fought via proxy wars. That way the nations can fight each other without fighting each other (so to speak). And avoid the problem of nuclear war.

Impossible to say. Depends on scenario.

For example, if we imagine that USA is blighted by couple decades of Republican rule and goes gung ho all over globe causing mess after mess we would see situation where "The West" would be basically USA and few allies while Russia would enjoy wide support to end the insanity.

If Russia tries to retake old Soviet territories it would be different situation.

I don't see why all of Africa and Asia would fight for Russia. Israel would be bang along side the US so Iran and Syria would be for Russia but I can't see Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan or India fighting for Russia

Cool, with the quality we see in Russian military equipment it's gonna be fun to watch 1000:1 kill ratios in favor of NATO on the evening news.

There's not going to be a damn war.
Everyone (in Russia and abroad) has too much money invested in Russian natural resources to risk losing everything.

US and NATO+ Israel, Egypt and Saudi arabia against SCO, Iran, Syria, North Korea and India. maybe Sudan too.

It would be the NATO+EU(trying to include non-NATO EU countries) against Russia and maybe Iran....

That type of war is impossible though.

Anyway China will never go to war with the US because our economies are too intertwined, same with India and now Vietnam.

India has strong relations with Russia, Much stronger than with the US.

the US chose Pakistan, Soviet union chose India. And now Russia has India.

The SCO is the Asian version of NATO, just smaller. China and Russia are there, and so are all Central Asian states, except Turkmenistan.( or was it Kyrgyzstan?) Nations that are observers are Pakistan, India, Iran and Mongolia. Why not North korea? if south Korea and Japan are planning to attack Russia and China, North Korea will try to retake the Peninsula, not to mention that South Korea will do the same.

It will not be the EU, I don't think countries like Sweden or Finland wants to engage in wars.
