Well I was able to install the game, not I cant finish installing 1.2!!!! HELP!

This is ridiculous! I cleaned my disc off and finally got it installed, all went well no problems. Well I've been installing 1.2, and all went well until I got to:

Medieval II Total War\packs\data_1.pack

It's been frozen there for bout 3 hours! And it's at the VERY end, in fact this is the very very very end.

What the **** am I to do now? I WANNA PLAY STAINLESS STEEL 4.0!!!

How much spare HDD space do you have?

The packs are very large files, and require several GB free to work with properly.

That failed; uninstall and try again.

It does work - and bear in mind that patching the pack files is by far the longest part of the process

I'm installing to an external Hard Drive and I have bout 80 gigs of free space on it.

It sure is comforting to know it's the longest part of the process, but I stopped it yesterday and restarted it today at 11 last night went to bed, got up at 1 and this thing is still going. And now it's stuck bout halfway at data_1 pack.

Just got back from work.. wow.. it's STILL going.

I started the install at 11 p.m. yesterday evening, it is now 11:10 p.m. tonight.

It's been going the entire time.

What the **** is wrong here?

That seems way too long.

I'd suggest that you try a full reinstall of the game, as that file may be corrupted and thus incapable of being patched correctly.

i currently have a similar issue right now, whenever i try to install the 1.2 patch i get near the end, then it sits there for 20 minutes. Then finally it says that my voice1 file is missing or corrupt, despite the fact i just did a fresh install of the game.
