Default Fourth Speaker's Report to the Curia

Speaker's Report to the CuriaAs usual I can't particularly see an advantage to doing this chronologically, so we'll deal with things thematically instead. First, three medals have been handed out; on the nomination of the Content Manager, and by general Hex approval, Belisarius, Justinian, and myself have been awarded Golden Quills for services to the Content department; congratulations, Beli, Justy. 'Twas well deserved.

Two Curial decisions have impacted on Hex and therefore raised debate therein, and each is worth noting. The first of these is the matter of the reorganisation of the Common Community; whilst taking the spirit of the Decision to heart, Hex has discussed and proposed an alternative, now open for discussion in the Q&S, where anyone may make their views heard; in the near future, it shall be implemented.

Furthermore, due to Tacticalwithdrawal's thread on moderation in the Prothalamos, the various threads in the Q&S, and the increasingly outdated nature of the present ToS, Hex is reviewing the whole ToS, and a replacement is under discussion; suggestions from the Curia will be welcomed, though they may not be incorporated into the final version that is produced.

More specifically the policy area of flag burning has come up, due to AP's signature; also under discussion by Senior Staff, no solid conclusion for the policy has been reached, although tentative grounds have arisen. More developments will likely be detailed in the next Speaker's Report.

A suggestion from the Q&S for a thread detailing all suspended members and the terms of their suspensions was also a matter of Hex discussion; the conclusion was that a) it was a potential breach of privacy, and b) it was a needless additional effort for the moderators that would therefore become rapidly out of date and serve no purpose.

The Front Page has also been a matter for discussion. The Content Manager has given certain members accesses to change the Front Page poll, and betrayed a shocking lack of Lewis Carroll knowledge; and a discussion on the inclusion of a Featured Download box on the Front Page led to a favourable conclusion with the caveat that it would need to be produced; alongside some other developments in this area, it is therefore in abeyance.

Finally, as some of you noticed briefly before it disappeared, a private forum has been established, by and on the suggestion of Publius, acting as an open channel of communication for our CA members and Hex. It should prove beneficial in terms of greater site integration and co-operation with CA, by providing a simpler and more open channel of communication, which is always good.

Now, as usual, I open the floor to questions.

If I would be so bold, I'd ask for an offical hex response to my question of what the role of the Curia is. Given hex's control on the site they're opinion on the role of the Curia is more vital than any.
