    Default PSP Online?

I just got a PSP for my birthday and know very little about the online side of things other than there's a wifi ADHOC option to play between PSP's locally or there's an online possibility as well. I'm interested in the latter. I bought a USB cable so I can transfer music and pics over from my computer but don't really know if there are any programs that allow you to play against other PSP owners? If so do you just need the thing connected to your comp by the USB cable? I know you can buy this dongle thing that you can plug into the PSP to use a connection but I'm assuming it's only a wifi version of the USB cable. I'm not really very technically minded lol

This is how it works for me,

I have my PSP and the game I want to play (Syphon Filter).
With the WiFi switch on (on the left side of PSP) I go into the game and select multiplayer. The PSP connects to my router (so you need a wireless internet system set up in your house or wherever you are) and I can find a match to play through the lobby system in game.

For the internet you just select the internet on the PSP menu with the WiFi switch on. The PSP will scan for networks and you can manually enter the IP address, WEP etc, with the connection set up it will save it (you can save multiple connections) for instant access next time.

I believe you can play multiplayer games via Bluetooth too. (I realize that's not exactly what you mean by "online gaming")

Yea I read about that in the booklet but I have a modem so can't do it that way. I've seen the dongle's you can buy that allow the PSP to attach itself to that network and from what I've read you don't need a router although I'm not very good technically so not sure. I was just wondering if I had the psp attached to the comp via the usb cable whether that would allow me to connect to the net. I did set up a connection that way but it asked for a pin to be entered and I didn't have one although I think it may be posted to me as I received an email from a Central Station regarding a pin.
