    Icon4 vista and 3d applications

I'm having problems with my 3d appilcations since I installed visa home premium.

Everything looks fine on the destop but when I play the new chess titans game from vista, the models are missing some edges, its wird, same thing with my other games like Battlefield 2, especially Medieval2 Total war,

for exemple the skie has a big black kinda wall on it, looks like missing texture, and sometimes I get to see through walls in BF2, cause its all missed up. In M2TW when archers shoot its like a wird pack of lines going anywere,
and the way I rotate the camera changes the way the wird lines are going,
its kinda hard to see were the arrows are going with all these lines going anywere.

Missing edge in all 3d games.( like if you take a pair of cisors and cut in 45 degree a knight's helmet in M2TW.)

Could this be the graphic driver form nvidia for vista 32-bit that sucks ????

I have n6600 gt 128mb never had that problem with Xp before. Thankyou !

Have you installed the latest drivers for your card?

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_158.24.html

this is the latest drivers for nvidia 6000 series for 32 bit vista
and it says they have fixed numerous game problems with this release

I'm glad you updated your Java because that’s the first thing I would have done.

From what you are describing it sounds like your card is overheating. Take your video card out and with some dry tissue paper cleanout the dust from the intake fan and around the heatsink. It might improve matters but don't get your hopes up, when a video card starts to do this its normally down hill from here on in.

Could be a driver-vista compatibility issue.
Make sure (double check) you have downloaded the newest vista certified NVIDIA drivers, and just to be sure, do it again, but before you install them, use driver cleaner to remove the old drivers first.

Could also be something in the NVIDIA control panel.

Could also be a monitor driver (long shot).

OMG when I said its in every 3d applications I was really right' even the turning nvidia sign in nvidia control panel is missing textures, I mean theres a big transparent square on it when he turns !!!

I'm trying to reinstall nvidia drivers
but were can I find a driver cleaner for free ???

Thank you for all your informations and sorry for the tripple post up there,

google driver cleaner pro. It is free.

Vista is odd in that it stops drivers which aren't vista certified (and even some which are) from working, and while reporting it is using that driver it is in fact using a generic windows one.

That is my guess at what is happening.

You can fix this, but not having bought Vista yet I don't know how.

    Look, I'll be blunt

    Did you RTFM?

The instructions for nvidia driver installation on Vista are very, very different to XP, and doing it wrong can cause all sorts of problems.

I suggest you have a read of the instructions on their website (pops up automatically when you download vista drivers) and make sure you've followed them to the letter, including the multiple reboots

    Good luck

Could be because your graphics card memory is failing. I can't say I'm surprised, a 6600GT is pretty old. The same thing happened to my old X600 (I think it came out about the same time as the 6600GT), all I did was go to the overclock settings and lower the memory clock by 50 mhz.

    Okay

What you're describing sounds like graphics artefacting, which is caused by overheating.

Have a check of your cooling

*Was hoping it was just software based.

Check to see if your video card cooler is dusty.
If it is, turn the computer off, unplug it from the wall, and then have a go at cleaning it out with tissues and cotton buds and/or compressed air (in a can).

If it isn't dusty, check the case fans, if they aren't dusty see if the video card cooler is working properly (leave the case open and watch it).
Watch the case fans at the same time and make sure they are working.

If all seems to be working like it should. Do as IncinerateIV said. Download Rivatuner and underclock your card by about 50mhz and see if that fixes it.

I'm downloading Rivatuner and I got all my inside pc clean and still dosent work, I scaned my comp with a program and it told me that my driver version for the card was not good or something bad about it ? I have the new one from nvidia 158..
and I reinstalled it 3 times still dosent work properly' ,
every time I load a new 3d applications the missing parts are changing place ( its always different ) (ex; chess titans )
It looks like a new skin for RTW (beta skin) were the sword is missing and a part of the cape....
that's how it looks with 3d stuff on my computer!!!

    thank you guys
