    Default A question?

I have a stupid question. Does 256MB DDR2 mean 512MB DDR ? Or is it the DD3 that doubles it ?

Sir Lancelot, Come talk with me alone ...

Ok, sorry. No, a DDR2 256 does not equal to a 512DDR. However, DDR2's have got better performance.

    No.

DDR2 is a newer standard to DDR; it allows the use of higher capacity sticks and faster frequencies.

There's also DDR3 supported on some Core 2 mobos, but it's horribly overpriced and not worth bothering with.

All you really need to know is that if you've got a DDR mobo, get DDR; if you're buying a new comp, get DDR2.

However, DDR2's have got better performance.
Can have. DDR400, for example, is the same speed in either; but DDR2 has more potential.
