    Default Command Stars in depth

    Would someone care to explain me how armies benefit from them. I already have a basic idea: it boosts morale, attack and defense of nearby units and the radius of bonus around general is supposed to increase depending on the number of stars, but actual numbers would be nice. I just would like to be able to compare the benefits of lets say having 1 star and 10 stars?

    I think thats about it, although I'm not sure about boosting attack and defense. The only other thing is when you auto-resolve, more stars means more likely to win and a clearer victory.

    Have a look at this Org thread. One of the developers stated that command influenced morale as well as attack, but no significant effect on the latter was found in tests by several community members.

    It 'feels like' your troops become more destructuve and the enemy morale is weakened.

    Whenever im at a significant command disadvantage my troops seem to rout very easily.

    Maybe its the increased attack rating causing a faster kill that upsets your troops and prompts the rout.?

    Anyhows...I manage the command rating upwards at every possible opportunity. Whatever it does...its good to have.

    Yes, i only understand the basics, but i am guessing the stars only have revelance to auto-ressolve. And they make you feel cooler
    To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence;
    supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting.

    I would think it has to do with autoresolve. Since I have fought battles where if I autoresolve I get a crushing defeat(like if both sides are even in terms of numbers but the AI general has way more stars than me). Then I fight the actual battle, and I pretty much slaughter the enemy. Like allied 20% losses and 60-80% enemy losses.

    Autoresolve seems to only take stuff like unit stats and command stars into play. While ignoring important stuff like tactics or terrain. (like city defense, it will say I lose in autoresolve, but if I fight myself I can just sit at the gates and walls cutting them down as they enter the city with minimum losses.)

    I had one of those generals who had 'the towering look of eagles about him'. In combat, my soldiers stayed in place and humiliated enemy units despite being outnumbered. They also stayed steady, despite taking losses. Plus, the enemy wanted to flee anytime the general came near.

    I concluded that at least the morale of one or both sides is affected, if not the attack and/or defense ratings.

    Thanks,

    I had three generals in my Greek army. I was fighting against the Macedons.
    I was wining batlle without almost any loses. Enemy was left with about three phalangites and I charged my generals at their rear and flanks , they didn't even touch them when they started to rout. One of the generals had 10 command.

    And I think that command inspires nearby troops, something like Eagle which is carried by cohorts.
